Finally some snow here too / Eindelijk is hier ook sneeuw

It started snowing half way during the week and somehow our part of the country (the southern part) missed out on it. In the northern part fell 16 inches in about four hours and we did not even have one inch.

But now there's snow (I think it is about 4 inches) and the temperatures are low enough to let it stay. A lot of talking about the snow but if you consider that it was 24 years since we had that much snow you can imagine my excitement. The kids are having a blast. The first day of Christmas break and it snowed.

Well, as you can imagine our country is not used to snow at all. So yesterday they cancelled all public transport and it was adviced to stay at home if you could. If you live in a country with lots of snow you're probably laughing your brains out (so is DH Richard, since he is from Canada, he can not see why life should stop when there's a tiny bit of snow)

Joram does not have proper boots for in the snow so his main challenge is to keep his feet warm. And today I went out for some snow boots for him but had no luck: Everything was sold out! Guess everybody has cold feet. I'll have to try again tomorrow because the expect the snow to stay until this coming weekend.

I did find some time to scrap. Again I worked with the patterned paper from a Dutch manufacturer called Creamotion. I must admit I usually am not a big fan of this brand but this line really caught my eye and I really liked working with it. The pictures were taken on National Day of 'playing outside'. I posted about that day HERE. The clown was really, really good and even entertained all the parents that were walking around. The pictures turned out really well.

Halverwege de week begon het te sneeuwen in bijna alle delen van het land, behalve hier in het zuiden. In Leeuwarden viel er 42 cm sneeuw en hier hadden net een centimeter. Maar nu ligt er eindelijk sneeuw (zo'n 15 cm) en de temperaturen zijn laag genoeg zodat het ook blijft liggen. Ik hoorde gisteren op de radio dat er 24 jaar geleden voor het laatst zoveel sneeuw lag.

De kinderen vinden het natuurlijk helemaal geweldig. Het is kerstvakantie en er ligt genoeg sneeuw om je de hele dag in te vermaken. Een land als Nederland ligt natuurlijk gelijk helemaal plat als er sneeuw ligt, gisteren reed er praktisch geen openbaar vervoer en werd er zelfs aangeraden om thuis te blijven. Als je dan (zoals manlief Richard) uit Canada komt snap je echt niet waarom het hele leven stil ligt als er een beetje sneeuw valt.

Joram heeft geen fatsoenlijke sneeuwlaarzen dus de uitdaging is om zijn voeten lekker warm te houden. Vandaag ben ik op pad geweest voor sneeuwlaarzen maar die waren natuurlijk overal uitverkocht. Schijnbaar heeft iedereen last van koude voeten! Morgen maar weer proberen want de verwachting is dat de sneeuw in ieder geval tot aankomend weekend blijft liggen.

Verder heb ik ook nog een beetje tijd gevonden om te scrappen. Ik heb weer gescrapt met papier van Nederlandse bodem, Creamotion. Ik ben normaal gesproken helemaal geen fan van deze fabrikant maar deze papierlijn trok me gelijk aan en het was leuk om mee te werken.

De foto's zijn genomen tijdens de Nationale Straatspeeldag van 2009. HIER heb ik daar al eerder over geschreven (en gescrapt). De clown was echt heel goed en wist zelfs de aanwezige ouders te vermaken. De foto's zijn heel mooi geworden.
