So let's get ready! Welcome! Let's Scrap is one of the friendliest scrapbook communities there is on this little planet called earth and I am so glad you decided to join us for our Hoppy New Year Blog Hop!

The Let’s Scrap Hoppy New Year Blog Hop starts Friday, Jan.14, 2011 and runs until 11:59 pm central time on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011. That’s right, it runs for a whole month. Because it is the New Year we thought it would be fun to name the challenges Resolutions rather then Challenge #1,Challenge #2 etc.

There are 15 Design team members, Contributing Design Team members and Administrators from Let’s Scrap hosting the blog hop. They will each have a Resolution (challenge) for you to do and a prize that you can win. Also one ofthe members of the group who doesn’t have a blog is posting a couple of great challenges in the Let’s Scrap Forum and there will be in depth rules and other important information posted in the forum also so make sure to check it all out.

Not only do you have a chance to win a prize for each challenge you enter but if you complete and post an entry for EVERY challenge along the blog hop, by February14, 2011 you're name will be entered into a random drawing for a wonderful prize supplied by Cosmo Cricket
On every blog in the hop you must become a follower and leave a little love (a comment) for the host.
Okay, are you ready to continue the Let's Scrap...hop? Here is the 12th Resolution (challenge).

Resolution #12

Remember those times where you had tons of eyelets on your pages? I think every corner of every picture on my layouts had an eyelet in those times. They were (and still are) a reasonably inexpensive supply and very versatile to use. Then someone (the one who knows will get an extra draw for the prize!) thought of using brads for scrapbooking and somehow the eyelet went out of our sight. The brad is still there in many different forms and shapes, colors and textures but the eyelets are in my cupboard getting dusty and rusty (thank goodness they don't really rust!)

So my resolution (challenge) is going to be this one: Get the dustbuster out of there, dust those eyelets off (and maybe scrape the rust away here and there, LOL) and get going!
I made this card using a Let's Scrap sketch and used 10 (TEN) eyelets. And then I can say (Ooooh, I am so modest today!) it looks pretty cool and nothing dusty or rusty!
You can use this techinque using different shapes, on a layout, over top of a picture or even to accentuate a part of a picture.

I have two other examples for the 'different' use of eyelets. Again: Nothing dusty or rusty. On the first layout I used the eyelet to put my thread through and attached it to the back. I think it is a very nice finish for thread ends. You can also use this technique for ribbon.

The second one is less visible but the effect is just as good. I used eyelets to emphasize the pattern in the paper. At first sight you won't even see the eyelets, but the effect is just as good.

Well, I hope I gave you enough inspiration to start smashing a dent in that eyelet stash! Read the following rules for Resolution #12 and then: Go scrapping!

Specific Resolution #12 Rules: (for the general Hoppy New Years Blog Hop rules go HERE)

Be sure that the layout or card you choose for this eyelet resolution is based on a Let's Scrap sketch: the tag line will have either the date of the sketch, like 2-12-10, or a number preceded by LS, like LS120, or a name, like letsscrap#4. If there is nothing in the tag line, it is probably not a Let's Scrap Sketch!

Leave me a comment on this post with the link to your finished card or layout in the Let's Scrap gallery. To do this go to the page where layout or card is posted on Let's Scrap , highlight the information in the URL bar (or you may call it location bar or address bar, the one all the way up top) Make sure you highlight all of it. Then right click and hit copy. Go to my comment section, click where you want it in the comment section. Right click and hit paste. It should put the link to your layout in the Let's Scrap gallery. If you need help just send me a message in Let’s Scrap.

You must tag your layout correctly in order for it to be entered into the challenge. For my challenge, I scraplifted a layout that used sketch 9-1-10. So my tag would be: Resolution#12, 9-1-10. NO space between Resolution and #1, separated by a comma and then the sketch name/number with no space either. So you will have two tags, one for your sketch and one for my resolution.

Did you know you can find an entire year of sketches in one click? Here's 2009, 2010 and 2011.

On Feb. 15th, I will randomly select one person who completed Resolution#12 to receive this great prize

Thanks for playing along and I hope you had fun!
Okay, now it's time to hop on over to the next stop on the Let's Scrap Hoppy New Year Blog Hop: Dawn
Enjoy the rest of the hop and see you all again at Let's Scrap (or here at my blog or maybe at yours)

  4. I love your examples Debby! Let me clarify: we just have to use eyelets on a project based on a Let's Scrap sketch? You KNOW I have a whole drawer full of eyelets in every size and color!!!!

  8. From the sounds of it, we could bury the entire DT/CDT from LS in eyelets we all have stashed in our homes!! I loved what you did with your brads on this card and on your layouts. In the LS gallery, I thought that was a hole punched with a picture behind it, but I see here it is an embellie applied OVER your baker's floss! It is such a cool idea, along with the use of brads. I actually DID use some brads recently, and said some naughty words when they didn't bend right and messed up my page! But hey---I'm willing to try again! Thanks for the challenge, and happy hopping. I am already a follower, too!

  39. I actually have only recently started using eyelets - they seemed like too much work until I got my crop-a-dile! I really like them now though. I decided to go a little wild on my layout (and also use up a colour that I've had lying around for ages) and must have used upwards of 60!
