This is going to be so much fun! Even if you are not a card maker, just give it a try or be creative and turn the card sketch into a LO.

Here's the sketch I used for my example and it is also the one you will be using if you want your name in the draw a second time. A fairly simple sketch but one with so many possibilities.

I made one example card and really liked it and when I looked at it again I though the colors I picked might have been a little bit too much Christmas. So; I made another one! So I have two examples and a couple that I did previously. Enough inspiration I would say. Here's the ones I made for this hop:

Over time I made several cards and even some LO's with this sketch and I just want to show you those to see how different the outcome of a sketch can be and how versatile sketches are.

Now the image you all have been waiting for: my RAK. Hopefully you like what you see. You will get enough rhinestones and half pearls to really spice up your LO's, some sweet stamps, so really cool brads, snaps, a bottle of glitter glue and those cute paper roses. And maybe, when the hop is really booming, I'll add some extra's to it.

LOAD challenge and scrapping with kraft

The LOAD (layout a day) challenge that Cathy is hosting at Let's Scrap sure made me scrap. I can not say I am totally up to date but so far my count is #24. Not bad for someone who did a 106 LO's last year.
As you will all know by now I am a huge fan of single LO's, single photo pages and kraft cardstock. Ooooh, do not want to forget machine stitching, LOL.

For this LO I used a photo from DD Jinte where she is showing off her Mr. Patato Head. We found him in one of the boxes in the attic that were filled with toys from DS Joram when he was younger. And Jinte LOVES playing with it. And mostly to make funny and weird looking faces with two pairs of eyes, an ear on the spot the nose should have been. In the gallery at Let's Scrap was mentioned twice that the creature she created looks like one of Picasso's paintings. Oh my, that is true, I never looked at it that way!

I am also putting this LO in for the ScrapFIT #23 challenge, which is to use kraft cardstock. Got to love a challegne like that, LOL. Always loved and still love the Basic Grey kraft lines. Too bad it did not became one of their basics.

How versatile are sketches????

Every other week one of our DT members at Let's Scrap hosts a challenge. This time it was Beth's turn and I was certainly surprised and had LOTS of fun doing the challenge.
These are the tips she gave:

Do you ever have a sketch you want to use, but you either have more photos that you want to include, or your photos are not in the right orientation? Often this problem can be solved by using smaller photos.

A horizontal 4 x 6 can become:

2 vertical 3 x 4 photos
2 horizontal 2 x 6 photos

A vertical 4 x 6 can become:

two horizontal 3 x 4 photos
two vertical 2 x 6 photos

The above ideas can be used without changing the sketch at all. With just some slight changes to the sketch you could also use:

two 3 x 3 photos
two wallets

If you really want to include a lot of photos, try using 2 x 2 photos. You can substitute six 2 x 2 photos in place of just one 4 x 6 photo.

Isn't that the coolest? Well, I played with one of our sketches and this is what I came up with. For those who recognize the patterned paper on this one: Yes, it is the Girls Paperie Christmas line. When I saw the sheet with the roses on there I knew I HAD to have it, you have to agree with me: There's nothing Christmassy going on on this LO. When I would not have told you, you would not have known.

For me this was #22 in the LOAD challenge (layout a day), so I am doing pretty good. I do not think I have ever made so many LO's in such a short period of time.

I splashed some StazOn re-inker on my background cardstock to make it more appealing. Just used a small brush and started playing. Just make sure your ink ends up ON the cardstock, not on everything around you. The splashing is really hard to control, LOL

I am still not a fan of card making, even though I make the card sketches at Let's Scrap, LOL.
I made a card last week that i really like. It probably helped that I made it with kraft cardstock, my favorite cardstock EVER!
I used of of my own sketches that I made for Let's Scrap and this is the final result: I have no detailed pics from it since I send it before I had the chance......

Mixing patterned papers from different manufacturers

TGIF! I am so ready for the weekend! But first of all I would like to 'teach' you something'..............

I always love mixing patterned papers and I am not afraid to mix 'non' matching colors and patterns. But I do know that many of you have a very hard time with this.
So I will try and tell how you can start doing it without the feeling of being the worse designer in the world, LOL.
Let me start with this: It is all about your personal style and taste! Well, that did not really help, did it?
Okay, even though it is about personal style there is also a little thin line between a good combination and a total patterned paper disaster.

Many of the rules that apply in home decor also apply in scrapping. In home decor they say that you can easily combine 4 or 5 different patterns together, but many more will be too much.

If you have never mixed patterned papers from different lines or different manufacturers before you might want to start like this. Start with combining similar colors.

Go through your patterned papers and grab similar colors.
Do not look at the patterns or hues of the PP
Do not overkill! Don't take 20 different PP if you normally only use two or three on a LO

And now: Just start scrapping!

Another way to combine papers is to go with patterns. Colors are not the main focus. What you are trying to do is find a couple of patterned papers, all with different patterns.

Find some stripes, some dots, checkered, plaids and maybe some argyles or flowers. Even though your colors are not the main focus, it is necessary that one color comes back in every sheet of PP you picked. So, for example, your dotted paper can be having several different colors but one of those colors matches with your flowered PP.

Now put the patterned patterned you picked out on your work space and start looking at the patterns, you can make three different categories: small patterns, medium pattern and big patterns. Pick one sheet out of every category and there is your combo!

There are a couple of patterned that combine very easy with others. Those are: ledgers, stripes, dots and text. They can be used as you main patterned paper or even as your background sheet.

You can get great mixing inspiration looking at the lines form manufacturers. They also mix their patters and they do that because they know some people do have a hard time with mixing. Well, they also want you to buy their whole line..........

NEVER never forget that the main focus on your layout should be your photo's, not your patterned paper.

Hopefully this will give you a bit of trust to start mixing. And even when you do not feel safe to start mixing on such a big thing as a 12x12 LO, start small and make a card. Just do not be afraid of doing something wrong, there's no wrong in scrapbooking, every piece made is a piece of art!

Last but not least I am going to show you a LO I did today with 6 PP (including my background sheet) from five different manufacturers. I combined reds and added a tiny black, all on a ledger background paper (there's the easy to combine pattern.........)

The heart pins were originally pink but I covered them with Tacky Glue and dipped them in fine glitter. All patterned papers were from my stash and the 7Gypsies one (the text book PP) is about 10 years old, still love it.......

Somehow the middle pennant of the banner looks sort of yellowish, but trust me, it is NOT, I think the scan made it look that way. But right now I do not feel like taking a regular photo of my LO, I just don't have the energy for it.

I have to admit; I am a sucker for free printables. And when you browse around the internet you will find tons and tons. But since I am browsing way too much anyway I thought I might as well link some cool ones up for you. So your visit here is not completely useless, LOL.
Though I did finish a LO today so I am up to date on the LOAD challenge at Let's Scrap. Which is by the way hosted by one of our fabulous DT members, Cathy. Cathy, thanks so much for doing this, you are one of the reasons why Let's Scrap rocks!

Now let's get back to the printables. Like I said, there are so many free ones out there. I used to store most of them on my computer or bookmarked the sites. Now I have many many of them pinned on my Pinterest board. Gotta love Pinterest!

Let's Scrap Leap around the World blog hop

Even though January is only 10 days old I am already thinking about February. This year is leap year so we all know what that means. We have an extra day to scrap!!!!!!! ROFL.
There is going to be a huge blog hop at Let's Scrap starting the first of February and ending the 29th. And trust me, if you want to finish all the challenges: You need all those days!

Ooooh, have I been............

A terrible blogger lately. I can not believe my last post here was in October. Well, sorry for being MIA but a lot of other stuff got in the way. I got the great opportunity to take over Let's Scrap together with Betty Anne, who is now officially my partner in crime.
I love Let's Scrap and already did way before I became an administrator. I can honestly say it is one of the friendliest communities I have ever seen.

So taking over Let's Scrap is the main reason for being such a terrible blogger lately. It is a lot of work to find sponsors, make sketches (I have been doing the card sketches for a little over a year now) and making sure the site is running smoothly.
This whole thing made me scrap a lot less than I would want but hey, you can't have it all! I did scrap and my goal was to make a 100 Lo's in 2011 and I made a 103, no bad at all.............

I started another 'goal' group over at Let's Scrap again and my scrapping goal for 2012 is again to make a 100 layouts.

At this point we have so much going on at Let's Scrap, we have the LOAD (layout a day) challenge that Cathy, one of our DT's is hosting and so far I am doing good, I have already done 3 layouts and a card.

Let me finish this post with showing some of my LO's I did in the last two months. I am not going to put a supply list with every LO as I usually do but if you want to know anything about it: Please just ask!

Every once in a while (well, maybe a bit more than that, I admit..............) I get totally carried away on the internet and before I know I have 20 different pages open with all stuff I'd like to do, make or participate in. Useless to say that I don't even have time to do any of these.

Since I got invited to Pinterest I became an avid Pinner and have my links and projects more organized than I ever did. But: When I don't start making stuff those lists will only get longer and longer. Maybe I should go for a different approach?
While browsing I came across some great projects and tips I wanted to share with you!

I have more shoes and boots than I will ever be able to wear out in my entire life so this post was very interesting to me. Make your own custom clips for your shoes so one pair can be 20 different ones. I must admit I am not too fond of animal prints but you'll get the point. Maybe this is a great excuse for buying those little black shoes I saw. The clips would be perfect for those! You can find the complete tutorial her at Thanks I made it

With Canadian Thanksgining last weekend and Halloween and American Thanksgiving coming up I always get tempted to buy cookie cutters. I have many but you can never have enough cookie cutters (please tell me I am right!) Each year I want ot bake cookies for all the teachers, friends and family but never have the time. Cookie cutters are not a normal thing here to have or to buy. So when I really need a particular shape I have to accept the fact that I won't be able to get it. Way back I looked at tutorials on how to make your own but that was way too complicated for me. I needed way to many supplies and tools and I could just see myself not being patient enough for making them properly and then end up with all those supplies and NO cookie cutters! I came acroos this blog and this AWESOME tutorial at Happy Find: Make you own cookie cutters with supplies most of us will have in their homes anyways. Thisi s one of those things where people will say: Why did I not think about this before? Wel, simply because we did not! I will be doing this tutorial for sure and I'll post mine here, I promise!

I love all kinds of crafts but my favorite passtime is and will always be scrapbooking. There's tons and tons of inspiration to find on the internet so I am not going to put any of those links up here but I do want to share this one: The Art of Photo-less Scrapbooking by Paula Gilarde at Debbie Hodge. Sometimes you do have a memory you want to scrap but no photo's. This article is filled with great tips!

And with Halloween close by I wanted to share this awesome project I found on Aly Dosdale's blog. It is such an easy thing to make and it would even be fun doing it with the kids. I love the classy look it has and I can imaginem aking these in different colors for different seasons. You can find the detailed instructions HERE.

And while I was waisting time again on my favorite time waister Pinterest (But oooooh, I LOVE pinterest!!!!!) looking for tattoo ideas I came across this great idea for DIY male jewelry. Not like my DH is going to wear it but maybe DS wil....... These bracelets for men, or even for yourself, they look pretty cool, are made out of zippers! Such an awesome idea and they seem pretty easy to make. Well, maybe except for the candle part, I might be burning down the house. Mmmmmh, maybe someone is willing to make them for me???? Using those old eyelets!!!!!

A few weeks ago one of our design team mebers Kathy hosted this great challenge at Let's Scrap. Use those eyelets. But there was more to it than just using eyelets. These were the requirements for the challenge:

1. Use a transparency. It can be ready made, or you can design one yourself using a clear printer transparency.

2. Use some eyelets to hold your transparency in place.

*As an extra twist, you will get an extra draw for every 20 eyelets you use. You will also get an extra draw if you use more than one shape of eyelet on your pages. If you use 5 or more different shapes, you will also get an extra draw!!! How's THAT for something different!

*You must use traditional eyelets, the kind that have to be 'set'. Brad eyelets, snaps, or conchos that look like eyelets will not count.

3. Use big letters for your title.

4. Use a Let's Scrap sketch to create your layout (NO CARDS)!

5. This challenge cannot be combined with any other challenge.

I have so many eyelets in my stash, I think I can cover a whole sheet of 12x12 with only eyelets and then you still won't see a dent in my stash. So this was the perfect challenge for me!

This is what I came up with

I really like how this turned out, but not totally happy with my title. It should mean that DD is our second child and not that she is 2. Mmmmh, might add the # to the title.

I used 37 round eyelets (and there's 8 more behind the photo and embellies), 12 star ones (and four covered), 4 heart ones, 2 apple ones and 1 strawler one. A grand total of: 56 (and 12 hidden)

I had a few scrap less weeks but I think I got it going again! At Let's Scrap we had a monthly sketch (besides our weekly sketches) from Julie Bonner and this is what I did with it:
I love the combination of the blackish and the blue.

These photo's were taken during our summer vacation in Brittany, France a few years ago. On that beach DS Joram decided he wanted to do gymnastics. He started that fall and is still doing it.

Another sketch Wednesday at Let's Scrap

It is Wednesday again and that means we have the reveal of a brand new sketch at Let's Scrap. We also have the month long challenge with a Julie Bonner sketch and the weekly DT challenge so there's tons of inspiration! Let's just hope it gets me scrapping too. My SB room has been such a mess no wonder I did not scrap at all the last week. Last night I cleaned of a lot of it and hopefully I will be able to get some scrapping done tonight.

Other than that life has gone back to normal, DS Joram is totally used to biking to school every morning and back in the afternoon. DD Jinte will will start playgroup for two mornings a week in two weeks. I can not believe I already have to 'let her go' all by herself. I hate those milestones where you get confronted with how fast they grow up.

I would also like to tell you that I will be having a GREAT give-a-way tomorrow! If you like hybrid scrapping (don;t we all do that in a way?) or when you are a digital scrapper please come back tomoroow: There's a great opportunity to win something awesome!

Every year I think the house will become nice and peaceful when school has started. Well, somehow that never happens and the first few weeks I all stressed and way too busy. It happens every year and I am still not sure what causes it. Mmmmmmh, time for some scrapping?????

The last LO I did was one with wallet sized photo's. People with young children probably have many of them lying around. I sure have. We had this perfect sketch for it at Let's Scrap and this is how it turned out:

Ribbon challenge at Let's Scrap

A couple of weeks there was a challenge from one of our design team members at Let's Scrap and it was about ribbon. Remember those days where we scrappers bought every little piece of ribbon available? Well, I was one of them and have tons and tons of ribbon. I think I can weave my own carpet if I wanted to. So I thought I should challenge myself and participate in this challenge (Thanks Teresa!) But no matter how hard I tried I just could not find the right way of using my ribbon to make it a layout that I liked. Way after the due date of the challenge I finally finished it.

The photo from DD Jinte is one where she is wearing DS Jorams sock monkey hat that he bought in Canada last year. Don't ask me why, she just loves that hat even though it is not pink and with jewels, ha!

10 years old: a tongue piercing or a Neocube????

Sometimes you just have the coolest photo's. This photo from DS Joram I took a few weeks ago while he was playing with his Neocube. A Neocube is a sort of a puzzle which has 216 (I think) vety strong tiny little magnets and you can make tons and tons of shapes with them. But Joram also found out that you can use them for other purposes: You can do faux piercings with them! And ofcourse he was more than willing to let me take a photo.

And it was one of those photo's I loved to scrap. I used this photo to do a challenge at Let's Scrap. The challenge was to do stitching on your LO's. It could be hand stitching, machine stitching and even faux stitching. For those who see my LO's on a regular base know that I {HEART} to sew on

my LO's, so this was a great challenge for me.I love how this LO turned out, I wanted it to be like Joram is, his own little self. A little different than others, but not too diufferent. This is what I came up with.

My Silhouette machine; Playing with borders

One of the weekly challenges at Let's Scrap a couple of weeks ago was one with borders. With the border punches being the thing to have everybody came up with pretty cool LO's. I combined it with the borders I cut with my Silhouette machine. And I love how it turned out. I used ALL stash (WTG for me, ha!) LO's with all borders are a perfect way to get rid of some of your stash, trust me.

I wanted to place the photo more to the left but I had already adhered my borders and turning the page upside down did not work. so I am not to happy with the placement of the photo, but alas. The scanning cut a little piece of the top, but the punching on the top does look the same as on the bottom.

Other than that: LOVED this challenge, I had so much fun playing with all the borders and punches, all different scraps of paper. DD Jinte got a Little Tikes bathing suit last year from my MIL and it still fits. I think she is the cutest wearing it.

Card for teacher

On the day DS Joram's class was going on their field trip to Toverland his teacher announced she was pregnant. Besides his teacher she is also assigned to take care of the 'care' children such as the ones with dyslexia. So Joram, with his dyslexia, has more to do with her than just being a child in her class. But a pregnancy calls for a card. I had the cutest cutting file and I have been dying to make something with that. An image of a pregnant women with a heart in her belly. And I started cutting.............well, my Silhouette did ;) I love how it turned out. I used a Let's Scrap sketch as my inspiration.

Fancy Pants challenge at Let's Scrap

I know, I should have updated my blog way sooner............... Everything just seems to be so busy. My DH broke one of his vertebrae falling of the attic in our garage, he was not allowed to do ANYTHING! Trust me, I felt really bad for him, but everything was on my shoulders and it sort of got to me.
This months challenge at Let's Scrap is one where you should use a Let's Scrap sketch and a Fancy Pants product. Since I am trying to use my stash and not buy as much anymore I really digged in my supplies and found some Fancy Pants papers and many many unopened packages of Fancy Pants rub-ons (shame shame shame). I did do my stash justice because I have already created two LO's with very old Fancy Pants lines.
If you still want to play along: You still have until the end of July to participate in this challenge and win the Beach Babe line from Fancy Pants.

This photo was taken in our zoo the other day. DD is so fond of the turtles and the fence is just low enough for her to almost be able to touch them. The DH of my DM just lifted her up and put her in there. The journaling basically says that.

The title is in Dutch and says: (almost) in the cage.
I even got to use some little pices of transparencies I still had in my stash. Geeh, I should have money left at the end of the month, ha!

Mothers Day Cards

Both the cards have been sent and received so it is now safe to post my Mothers Day cards.
This year I made them almost a month early just ot make sure that I would not have to make them at the last moment. I kept it pretty simple and tried to get both my DM and my DMIL' favorite colors in there. I can say they both liked them.

The top one I made for my mom and then the bottom one would obviously be for my MIL. For both cards I used patterned paper form a national chain store comparable to Target. The top card says Happy Mothers Day in Dutch.

I think it was last month when I read about Pinterest at ScrapScene's Speedlinks. At first I had no clue what it really was or how usefull it could be. But now that I know: I am completely HOOKED! What a great thing that is! And how easy to use and to navigate through. Why didn;t someone think of this before?

So now you know how I like it, I might as well explain what it is and how it works. Pinterest is comparible to your favorites folder that you use with your internet browser. I tried to keep that folder organized so I added sub-folders for every subject. But over the years I noticed that it was still not easy. Lots of files expired, some of the links should have been in two or more folders but most of all: I could not remmeber what the link was for unless I clicked on it and visited the site I linked to.

You create all different folders (Boards) which you can load up with images, links and little notes (all together called Pins) so you know what you added and what it was all about. Another great feature is that it is connected to Facebook. So it automatically finds your Facebook friends and you can see what kind of boards they have and what they pinned. You can also decide to follow a friend, follow a board or even if you see one interesting pin of someone you can also Re-pin it. And you can not believe how easy it is: You just add the Pinterest link to your favorites toolbar and when you see something you want to Pin, you simply click on that link, it will give you the option on what image you want to show and add your note, choose a board and it is Pinned!

There's only 2 buts: You can not Pin anything that does not have an image on the page. The second is: You can not just join Pinterest, you have to get invited. but thne again: You can also request an invite.

Oh, and maybe there is a third but: You'll be Pinning the whole day! Like Pinterest says: Happy Pinning!

A little update on the NSD activities at Let's Scrap: You still have two weeks to finish all the challenges. If you are planning to still get in the draw for the sketch (NSD2011#11) I'll have to dissapoint you, the deadline is over! Ofcourse you can still make it and upload it but it won't be in for the drawing anymore. But the good thing is: Tomorrow there will be a reveal of a second ketch for NSD! And ofcourse there's still the regular sketches and even two DT challenges. So enough to scrap!

Mixed alpha title challenge (NSD at Let's Scrap)

As I said in my previous post we have so many cool challenge over at Let's Scrap during the NSD activities. This one I did is from Rene', one of our new DT members. She hosts a recipe challenge, which I always like. This was her recipe for the LO we had to make:

a mixed alpha title
use at least one border punch
use 2 photos
use a Let's Scrap sketch

And this is what I came up with. I had these papers lying around for a long time. I bought them because I'd love to make a LO with one of my kids wearing rain boots and these papers were just so cute. But then again, we have always al ot of rain so who is going to take photos in the rain. But DD saved the day and started putting on her little red boots just after she took a shower. She absolutely loves shoes. I swear it has nothing to do with what kids see, it is just in their genes! She'll hate me for these pics when she gets older but hopefully appreciates them when she is a mom.

National Scrapbooking Day (month) at Let's Scrap

I am the first one to admit I have been a lousy blogger lately. I can come up with so many excuses, but I won't. So let's just start talk scrapping!!!!

The 1st of May was the day the National Scrapbooking Day (NSD) activities started at Let's Scrap. But don't let that little word 'day' fool you, we have activities the whole month of May!

We have found some of our DT members, our formers Dt members and even members to host a challenge. There's a total of 10 challenges and 2 sketches and then there's still the regualr weekly sketches. There's also a bingo game hosted by Betty Anne. I can honestley say we have some fun challenges gonig on, I am truely impressed.

I have been without my mojo for a couple of weeks but I am glad to say that it came back on the day NSD started at Let's Scrap. So far I have been able to do a challenge and a sketch.

I was able to take some fun pics of the kids in the last couple of weeks and I really wanted to scrap those.

The first LO I did (with a sketch) was made with a pic from DD Jinte whenre she is covered with all the jewelry she has. Ever since she was just a little girl she loved necklaces, so by now she has quite a collection of jewelry. One morning I was baby sitting the 4yo of a friend and she played with Jinte and her jewelry for the longest time. At a certain point I looked at the kids and I had to run up and get my camera.

I had the handheld mirror cut and sprayed the inside silver with glimmermist but it still looked naked. I showed my DS Joram and he said: You need to add something there. So I cut a flower and added it. He was right, it looks so much better.

Flower and handheld mirror are cut with the Silhouette Machine, who has finally got a new blade.
LOL, I just saw that I took detailed pics of my LO when the mirror was still empty, so without the flower. I won't change it, now you can also see what it looked like before Joram gave me his creative advice.

Let's Scrap our Stash challenge

One of the new groups we have at Let's Scrap is Let's Scrap our Stash. This group is created to motivate you to use the stash you have instead of buying new supplies for every LO you are planning to make. Betty Anne and Kathy are taking turns on the challenges so there's a new and exciting challenge every week. This week Betty Anne was going to do a challenge but due to some shoulder problems she won't be able to do it. So I am taking over for her. If you want to join the group and the challenge you'll have to head over to Let's Scrap, become a member and join the group. This weeks challenge is all about fibers. Remeber those? I had and still have containers full with all different kinds all nicely wrapped around thread cards and all sorted by color. That is probably the only reason why I did not throw them away yet. For this challenge I made two cards as examples for our members. I had fun making these and I like the look of the fibers on the cards. I will be using more of those fibers again for sure.

I kept the cards pretty simple and used two colors that I would normally not combine as fast.

Scrapping Carnival

Somehow Carnival always has this tropical feel to it. Well, not here. As in all the countries Carnival is celebrated on the same days. So here it is winter and somehow always freezing. The parade is on Saturday and that is the only real Carnivallish activity that we do. The last couple of years it has just been me and DS Joram. Ofcourse the last two DH Jinte was already born so she stayed at home with DH. The parade is just way to busy and loud for her. Eindhoven, where we live, is called Lampegat during Carnival and the prince takes over the city from the mayor. Some people just party fro five days straight. To me it still seems kind of strange but I guess that has all to do with me not have grown up here.

Though we are not Carnival people the parade is always fun to go to. The last three years we are always on the same spot downtown for watching the parade and more and more people we know are there too. Lots of kids so they can really enjoy theirselves and play with eachother.

So why am I telling you all this? Because Elise took this great photo of Joram and myself during the paprade. You can't really see that we are freezing, but as you can see I am wearing my gloves. Underneath my shirt I was wearing a thick winter jacket and my DH thermo jacket.

For this LO I used all stash (I am getting good at it!) and I even used some supplies I'd never thought I would use. Remember those Dress it Up flatbacks? I have so many of them in so many different styles and shapes, I think I can cover a whole wall with them. I wonder what I was thinking when I bought all those. But I used about a whole package on this LO. I remember when I bought them I did not want to use them because they were all soooooo cute.

I used the candies on this LO because during thep aprade lots of candies are thrown into the audience. The hat I am wearing on this pic was also thrown to us and caught by Joram but he did not want to wear it and I did not want to hold it the whole time so I just wore it.

I used some of the Sassafras Lass Bungle Jungle papers on this LO. I think I made about 10 LO's with this line of paper, but I still have papers left.

Scrapping with kraft cardstock

I am absolute kraft cardstock lover. I just love how it seems to match with everything, how it seems to give a little texture to your LO and just the way it looks! So I use a lot of kraft cardstock for my LO's. This following LO is also made with kraft cardstock and has a pic on it from my mom and her DH giving DD Jinte a bath when she was a little over a week old. What I love about this photo is the happy looks on all of their faces. It seems like Jinte is smiling but I wonder about that. Kids a week old don't smile yet, do they?

I used a Let's Scrap sketch for this LO. As most of you know I am a single page scrapper.But all the sketches provided at Let's Scrap are doubles. When you look around on the internet you won't find a whole lot of sites providing double page sketches. They are great to work with when you want to get rid of that enormous pile of pics you have lying around. Guess I am not such a great example for that with my single pagers, and mostly one pic too, aaaaargh......... I'll never get all my pics scrapped!

Scrapping best friends forever

DS Joram has a best friend and they have been best friends ever since they were two years old and met at the playgroup they both attended. Now they are both ten and they are still best friends. One year school separated them by putting them in different classes so they would also play with different kids. The result: They ended up playing together during play breaks and after school. Both Merels (DS BFF name) mother and me went to school to say that they needed to be in the same class again. School listened to us and ever since they have been in the same class.

They have a weird friendship, they can talk like they are already been married for fifty years but they can also giggle and laugh as teenage girls. The fun thing is: They are not getting married they say, they are both in love with someone else.

I know friendship at that age will change and maybe fade away but the way it is now, they are friends for life!

Scrapping with older stamps, use my stash!

I don't think that there's any scrapper on this thing called earth that does NOT collect supplies! I have to confess that I have probably supplies for the rest of my life. The only thing I would have to buy is probably adhesive and blades for my trimmer and x-acto. At Let's Scrap Betty Anne started a group called Let's Scrap our Stash. So a great opportunity to get rid of some of my stash and right away save some money by not buying all the new supplies that came at the market after the last CHA.

I did quite some pages with older supplies, some felt like they were antique and I came to the conclusion that even though you are using older supplies the pages do not look outdated at all simply because of the scrapbooking style you have. So I will definetely try to keep it up and use up some of my older supplies.

I guess not having all the big or even small craft or scrapbooking stores helps in the process. I do not know what I could do if I had a Micheals, Jo-Anns or Hobby Lobby in my area.

This layout is made with supplies I had. The pic was taken when DD Jinte was lying inthe incubator in the Neonatology ICU when she was born. She stayed there for a little over three days to make sure she did not have any side effects of the medication I was using during the pregnancy. She did great and had no severe problems. Not visible on this phot are all the tubes and wires that she was connected to. I can still see DS Jorams' face, he did not like that at all.

Sorry for being MIA for such a long time. Things have been busy! I did get some scrapping done and will post that later. First I am going to tell you that we are looking for a new Design Team at Let's Scrap!

The three month term of our amazing design team will be ending on April 30th so it is time to look for new design team members. Are you the one who will be motivating our members, setting up a challenge, making 4 examples of sketches every month and a great and active member on our new design team? I did this layout for the blog hop and it was just after DS Joram turned ten! I can not believe he is already this big! It seems like yesterday when he was born. Well, I guess every mom has that. These pics were taken after his birthday party where we made Sock Monkeys! He had 6 girls over (he NEVER invited a boy in all those years, there are always the same girls) and they all made a monkey. I had them prepared so it would not take days and they all turned out well.

The challenge was to use 1 piece of ribbon, 2 different patterned papers, 3 flowers and 4 bling. This is what I came up with;

Another texture layout!

In my last post I was talking about this great challenge DT member Kathy posted over at Let's Scrap. Well, I really got into it and did another one. I have scrapped this photo before but I had another print and since I love this photo I thought it would not hurt ot scrpa it again. The pic was taken in Tuscany, Italy in 2007 on the estate we were staying. The little lake was filled with fish and toads. Loved hearing the concert of the toads early in the morning and when it got dark. We had such a good time there!

I splashed ink on the cardstock with a paintbrush and dripped seal wax on it. Used a piece of fringed burlap as a mat and made my own seal. Too bad the text on the seal is hard to read. It says: Official, accept no other. Even though this is not my regular style I love how it turned out!

Scrapping with texture, Let's Scrap challenge

During the blog hop, our design team at Let's Scrap did not post any challenges. Which was more than understandable because with 15 challenges going on at the blog hop we all had enough to do. This past Friday was the first 'regular' challenge after the hop and it was Kathy's turn to come up with a good challenge. Well, she did! She came up with this awesome challenge and it was all about texture! Remember those days where mesh was THE thing to have? And when scrapping with fabric was the HOT thing? This is what I came up with: The picture was taken around Christmas 1972 and my DH and his brother are on there together with their grandmother. I always love to see pics of my DH in his little sailor suit.

Scrapped a first birthday and blog hop winner announced!

It seems like forever since I updated my blog. The Let's Scrap blog hop has taken a lot more time (and energy) than we thought and now that it is over there's a bit more time for other things like scrapping and other fun stuff!

The blog hop was a tremendous success and there were so many participants. The designteam came up with the most amazing challenges. We got so many new members and the gallery was rocking. I even got to finish all 15 challenges on the blogs. The only thing I did not finish was Kathy's word scramble. There were 25 words and I did not get more than 8 unscrambled. Isn't that horrible?????? Guess I can say I am not so good at word scramble games!

I had 50 people participating in my challenge so there were a lot of rusty dusty eyelets used. It was great to see all the ideas people came up with to use eyelets. Even though they seem very outdated, non of the layouts or cards that were made for this challenge looked outdated. I used the random number generator to pick a winner for my challenge. The winner is Rachelle! She made a really cool layout with eyelets. Congrats Rachelle, your prize is on its way!

There is lots of activity going on at Let's Scrap. The two new challenge groups we started are a great success and you can still join them. One group is the 'Let's Scrap our Stash' group where you are challenged to use only your stash while scrapping. I finished the month of January without buying anything new!

The second group we started is the '100 layouts in 2011' group. Basically the goal is to reach your scrapping goal in 2011. Some of us scrap 200 LO's in a year and some only 50, but the challenge is to reach your personal goal. I am set for a 100 layouts for 2011, and so far so good, I have finished 16!

And trust me, there's more fun to come at Let's Scrap!

The first layout after the blog hop was one with pics from DD Jintes first birthday. I can not believe she is over 18 months already. We celebrated her birthday a little early because we would be in Canada for her birthday. So it was not really her birthday but there we tons of people, gifts and a dairy, egg and nut free cake (got to love those allergies!)

I scrapped this with papers that I loved because of the design but I always think that papers that have an entire image on it as a design are so hard to use. I could not scan this layout because of its bulkiness so I had to take a pic. But with hardly any daylight out there I had to use the falsh. :( This is what I came up with:

The Let’s Scrap Hoppy New Year Blog Hop starts Friday, Jan.14, 2011 and runs until 11:59 pm central time on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011. That’s right, it runs for a whole month. Because it is the New Year we thought it would be fun to name the challenges Resolutions rather then Challenge #1,Challenge #2 etc.

They will each have a Resolution (challenge) for you to do and a prize that you can win. Okay, are you ready to continue the Let's Scrap...hop? Here is the 12th Resolution (challenge).

Resolution #12

Remember those times where you had tons of eyelets on your pages? I think every corner of every picture on my layouts had an eyelet in those times. They were (and still are) a reasonably inexpensive supply and very versatile to use. Then someone (the one who knows will get an extra draw for the prize!) thought of using brads for scrapbooking and somehow the eyelet went out of our sight. The brad is still there in many different forms and shapes, colors and textures but the eyelets are in my cupboard getting dusty and rusty (thank goodness they don't really rust!)

So my resolution (challenge) is going to be this one: Get the dustbuster out of there, dust those eyelets off (and maybe scrape the rust away here and there, LOL) and get going!

I made this card using a Let's Scrap sketch and used 10 (TEN) eyelets. And then I can say (Ooooh, I am so modest today!) it looks pretty cool and nothing dusty or rusty!
You can use this techinque using different shapes, on a layout, over top of a picture or even to accentuate a part of a picture.

I have two other examples for the 'different' use of eyelets. Again: Nothing dusty or rusty. On the first layout I used the eyelet to put my thread through and attached it to the back. I think it is a very nice finish for thread ends. You can also use this technique for ribbon.

The second one is less visible but the effect is just as good. I used eyelets to emphasize the pattern in the paper. At first sight you won't even see the eyelets, but the effect is just as good.

Well, I hope I gave you enough inspiration to start smashing a dent in that eyelet stash! Read the following rules for Resolution #12 and then: Go scrapping!

Specific Resolution #12 Rules: (for the general Hoppy New Years Blog Hop rules go HERE)

Be sure that the layout or card you choose for this eyelet resolution is based on a Let's Scrap sketch: the tag line will have either the date of the sketch, like 2-12-10, or a number preceded by LS, like LS120, or a name, like letsscrap#4. If there is nothing in the tag line, it is probably not a Let's Scrap Sketch!

Leave me a comment on this post with the link to your finished card or layout in the Let's Scrap gallery.To do this go to the page where layout or card is posted on Let's Scrap , highlight the information in the URL bar (or you may call it location bar or address bar, the one all the way up top) Make sure you highlight all of it. The other day I was scrapping another one of the Resolutions for the Let's Scrap blog hop and I scrapped a photo of my DH Richard. But for the life of it I could not figure out a title. I made two more layouts of him last week and my title imagination was just gone. I had no idea. So I went downstairs with the layout, all finished but the title, and showed it to Richard, asked him what the title must be. He looked at it and started singing: Whatta man, whatta man, what a mighty good men. I told him he was not much of a help and went upstairs again. But I DID use the title he said I should use. The photograph was taken when we were on vacation in Croatia last May.

Scrap a Banner

One of the challenges (Resolutions at the Let's Scrap blog hop was to use a banner in your LO. Not too hard you can say. Well, I was doing this LO and made a banner to use and at the end (LO was done) I forgot the banner! Well, found a spot for it and it worked out fine. This is a pic of DH Richard coaching his hockey team made by a professional photographer a couple of weeks ago. Always makes me proud when I look at him like that (He is a tough ##%$#% coach!)
This became a layout with lots of dimensions and goodies.

The other day I worked on Bev's resolution for the Let's Scrap blog hop and I was amazed how it turned out! Her challenge was to work with blue, yellow and white, using a Let's Scrap sketch and a black and white photo. Well, blue and white are not a problem at all, two of my faves to work with. But yellow: Ouch, that is such a hard color for me. I will never buy yellow paper or embellies and never scrap with yellow. The sheets of cardstock that I have that are yellow are just there because they came in a collection pack or stack.

But as we all know many lines of scrapbooking paper are double-sided. One of my favorite brands, October Afternoon has a beautiful line with blues, greens and yellow! And I had some paper left from previous layouts and they were perfect for this challenge.

This is what I came up with. I had this photo of DH Richard from 1991 (can't believe that is already 20 years ago, guess we are getting old, LOL) as a goalie in his college days. Love this pic! The photo came in black and white, so I did not make any adjustments to it.

I did not want ot use a piece of cardstock that was yellow so I did an old technique to spice it up a bit. I used ink and a straw to make the blurs of yellow. Remember those days in elementary school? It turned out pretty cool, I will definitely do that again.

I have been very very busy. Taking over Let's Scrap just a week before a HUGE blog hop starts is a garantuee of getting things in order. I am now totally worked in on all the stuff there needs to be done. The blog hop made a lot of new members joining Let's Scrap. We love that!

Something else we did and I think it is sooooo cool: We started two new challenge groups. One is '100 layouts in 2011' and the other one is 'Let's Scrap our stash'. Both of them are pretty self explainatoiry. The 100 group is more or less set up for anyone who wants to achieve a goal in 2011. That could be a 100 layouts, but also 50 or 200. Just want to reach that goal.

The stash group is also fun. As the name says: We need to scrap our stash. You can join just for motivation, you can join for tips, but also to keep track of what oyu are doing. There is a thread where you can keep your monthly records. And as it is at Let's Scrap: Nothing difficult or pushy, just enjoy! Just join Let's Scrap and check it out!

And then there's the Blog Hop still going on. The design team came up with so many cool challenges, I am impressed! I started at Resolution #1 and I hopefully will be working on #13 tomorrow night. And the hop does not end until the 14th of February, so I will have time enough. If you still want to join please take a look at the top post of my blog, it has all the information you need.

Well, now it is time again ot share a layout I made. I did quite a bit last week but I am only going to share this one. DD Jinte loves to dress up. She just walks around with necklaces around her neck the whole day and puts on sunglasses, bling shoes (from my MIL bought at the Gap, thanks Janny, she loves them!) and not to forget: That blingie tiara! These pics were taken at 6.30 in the moring so she is still wearing her PJ's.

Let's Scrap Blog Hop: Resolution #6; My Love........

Resolution #6 at Let's Scrap's Hoppy New Year Blog Hop was a hard one for me: It had a fixed sketch and with that you had to make either a card or a layout in the theme of love! I came up with the idea of making a card for my DH Richard! Needless to say that I love him a lot!

I did use the sketch as my inspiration but got sidetracked along the way! LOL

Let's Scrap Blog Hop Resolution #5

Revolution #5 at the Let's Scrap Blog hop was the one from Caro: Use a Let's Scrap sketch to make a layout or a card and do not open any new package of anything., so use your stash! I have been pretty good with using my stash lately. So this was a very nice and easy challenge for me. I combined several different paper lines form different manufacturers (love doing that) and they were all pices I had still lying around, not one whole piece of paper has been used on this LO. Okay, the piece of cardstock that I used as a base was a whole piece, LOL.

This is what I came up with. DS Joram told me today that he wanted me to scrap about him, and so I did! Somehow the colors of the scan are a bit off (again, I know, got to work on that) the colors of the detailed pics are much better.

Let's Scrap Blog Hop Resolution #4

I did not have a whole lot of scrapping inspiration the last couple of days. Somehow I lost my mojo and did not know where to look for it. My FIL is having his birthday in a little over a week and I thought scrapping a birthday card would be a good try to get my mojo back. Most of the times making cards isn't really to stimulating for me but it was worth the try. Resolution #4 was one from Cori. She came up with this challenge:

1) Use a Let's Scrap Sketch

2) Create a scrapbook layout or card

3) Use a list somewhere on your project

This is what I came up with. I was pretty happy with how it looks and I know my FIL will be.

Layout update

Every once in a while I see pics flying by on my computer and I wonder if I ever posted them on my blog. I know I did not posted this one. So here we go. This is a LO that I made for the Let's Scrap designteam a couple of weeks ago. It is on the bottom of my 'have to put them in an album' pile, so it could be a while ago that I made it, probably somewhere end of November. I know the sketch was the last one in December.

The pics on this LO where taken in Austria while I was skiing there with four moms out of DS Jorams class. Two of them (including me) had never skied before. We had lots of fun (and the ugliest ski teacher you can imagine. All those georgeous teacher had a different group)

Let's Scrap Blog Hop: Resolution #1

Resolution #1 (aka challenge) was to scraplift a LO you really liked using a Let's Scrap sketch. I right away knew who I was going to scraplift but still I spent way too much time browsing through the gallery looking for other stuff. Ofcourse there are tons of beautiful LO's and cards, but I decided to stick with my first one: A LO from Scarlett. I love Scarletts work and her style.

This is what I came up with:

I thought this is such a funny photo. DD Jinte (now 18 months) got her hands on DS Jorams Nintendo DS. And ofcourse she does not know how to play a game but she sure knows what to do. She will take the stylus out and use it on the screen and pressses on every available button. A girl of modern times.

Sketch Wednesday at Let's Scrap

I have been a bad blogger last two weeks. Let me first start by explaining you why! I got the major opportunity to take over Let's Scrap together with my good friend Betty Anne (the one from Ontario Canada, not the one from BC) Cheri and Kim (who both do the great sketches for Let's Scrap) decided to stay and so there is now four great people keeping a great site on the go!

I did get the opportunity to scrap a little here and there so here we go with revealing my take on this weeks sketch. If you want to see the sketch (a double pager, not my favorite, but I know that most people rather have doubles than singles and you can always make a single out of a double, so there is two great sketches in there for me!) you will have to join Let's Scrap!

I guess I don;t really have to explain the title of this layout! DD Jinte loves Cheerios. Which is great, because of her food allergies she is not allowed a whole lot of stuff and these are completely wise and healthy for her to eat. Have to mention this though: Cheerios is not a common product here, My dear MIL brought to mega bags of them along from Canada the last time she was here.

There's also a story to that little Tupperware bowl Jinte is holding. It came from my moms kitchen and I believe I also snacked from it when I was Jinte's age.

Let's Scrap Blog Hop: Hoppy New Year

First of all: A Happy New Year! Let this year be filled with joy, happiness and fun! And let's right away start with some scrappy news:

Starting Friday January the 14th the DT members from Let's Scrap will be having a month long blog hop: Hoppy New Year. It is going ot be jam packed with tons of resolutions (AKA challenges) and the prizes are awesome. Just a quick post to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a joyfull, happy and healthy 2011 for you and your loved ones. Now getting back to Christmas dinner and watching the Beethoven movie with DS Joram.

This is my first ever white Christmas in this little country of ours. And we are talking WHITE! There's about 12" of snow here and there is more to come.

Scrapping with recycled items

This weeks challenge at Let's Scrap is a real fun one: Use recycled items. I had this tag in my stash for such a long time. It came from a dress shirt I bought a long long time ago and I have always wanted to use it on a layout but never got around to it. So this was the perfect challegne for me. The tag contained two parts: A piece of ribbon with 'with a touch of silk' on it and a piece of organza with 'avec une touch de soie' (with a toch of silk in French) on it. The organza piece even has a rhinestone on it.

Last week I shot the perfect pics for this layout.

If you want to see the tutorial for my homemade glimmermist please read HERE. I am always amazed how good it works. I only bottle of the 'real' stuff I bought is the Marshmellow White. I saved soooo much money on this idea! (which I can spend on more scrapbooksupplies, ha!)

The weekend is almost over. Enjoy this last week before Christmas. Don't let the stress take over. Try and relax while doing your last minuyte shopping by going for a cup of coffee at you favorite place! Just sit for half an hour and read a magazine or something. Those 30 minutes won't do anything to your schedule, trust me!

Stamping on your layout

This may sound very familiar to quite a bit of scrappers and cardmakers. There are so many supplies I have and don't really use. For example: STAMPS! I have so many stamps, foam stamps, clear stamps and even the old fashioned mounted ones. And when do I use them? Hardly! Actually, I probably must say NEVER because most of them are still unopened. Shame on me.....................

So this weeks challenge at Let's Scrap was a good one for me: Use stamps on your LO. Well, I got out my foam stamps and used them for a title on this LO. This pic was taken during our stay in Croatia last May. There's actually a funny story to this one. I was going to take a pic from DH Richard while he and DS Joram were palying mini golf. I was entertaining DD Jinte and shooting some pics. I took this pic and I was kind of annoyed because he suddenly looked up. So the shot I had in mind was totally ruined.

But a couple of minutes later this turned out to be one of the best pics! DH was actually looking up because he felt something on his shoulder. He looked up and did not see a thing. Okay, done deal, move on with the game. A bit later it turns out that a bird pooed on his shoulder! So the pic I took was timed so well!

I am still going for all my leftovers for the layouts I am making. I am a fan of combining patterend papers form different manufacturers and for this one I used three different paper lines by three different manufacturers.
