Taking pics at Strijp S

Told you all before that I am happy as a kid in a candy store with my new camera. Still have learn so much but enjoying every second and click so far.
I was able to take an introduction class portrait photography and learn quite a bit but again; I should really focus on getting to know my camera better.

Just want to share a few of my favorite pics from last week. Taken at Strijp S, the old factory compound from Philips. Thousands and thousands of people used to work here. It was built moistly in the 1920-1930's and for a long time it was the area where the worlds biggest radio factory was. After WWII TV's were also made there. It was called 'the forbidden city'. Even though it had thousands of people coming there every day, it was unaccessible for 'normal' people.
Until 2004-2005 there were still buildings being used by Philips.
Lotso of buildings were teared down but also many got restored with keeping many of the original design  Very very industrial. Right now there's a lot to do and there's even apartments there, loft for rent.
This week I was able to go there and take some pics. To bad it was a bit hazy and very cloudy.

Altered chairs

Like many of us, I am a total Pinterest addict. One of my resolutions is to actually do some of those projects I pin. I got inspired by many many altered chairs on Pinterest and started with decoupaging. never did it before and loved how easy it was and how it resulted in such awesome products!
I also pinned some homemade decoupage glue or Modpodge. Even better to make it and use some cheap glue instead of the expensive originals.
So here I am sharing the result and the recipe for homemade decoupage glue. If you like to get more inspiration and you are on Pinterest: Just do a search on decoupage and chair and you will love what you see. Some are real pieces of art.

The high chair is the one for my DD Jinte and the other one is one of our old dining chairs that DS Joram (12yo) uses as a desk chair.

This is my secret on the decoupage glue: worked like a charm: One part of water and one part of white craft glue. I used the cheap glue form the dollar store. I made an entire jar of decoupage glue for a little over a $1 and used one of those foam brushes to apply it.

Please let me know if you have any questions, I am more than willing to help!

My new camera!

This week I was able to buy a new camera: A Canon Eos 5D mark II. Can you imagine me being as happy as a little kid with a new doll (or maybe an Ipad these days......) I sold my old camera in no time and was able to purchase two lenses. I treated myself om a 50mm f/1.8 and a 28-300 f3.5-6.3.
And with hardly any time on my hand I was able to take some nice shots. Hopefully somewhere in the next few weeks I will be able to play with it for a few hours straight.
Here's a few of my pics

Have a great weekend and if you are a scrapper: Do not forget the DT call at Let's Scrap

My first colored digi stamp...........(ever)

I have always been fascinated with the digital stamps but never had the real urge to actually use one. I have never understood why people wanted to pay LOTS of money for regular image stamps that you can only use a few times before you get sick and tired of it. I am not talking about the text stamps or background images, just the cute little dollies. Don't get me wrong, I think they are the cutest, I just think I would never spend so much money on something I won't use that much.
Last month we had this huge blog hop over at Let's Scrap and it was all about cards. We had so many uploads to the gallery that there was lots of inspiration. Normally our gallery is mainly filled with scrapbook LO's and with the hop there were mainly cards. Great to see and lots of inspiration. with all those cards there were also quite a few of colored images and many of them were digital ones. Some of them looked like art, they were so pretty done. I am not even aiming for that, LOL. So this week I decided to actually color a digital stamp. I went to Dustin Spike's blog and found this CUTE little dog drooling over a love letter. Dustin Spike designs the coolest digi stamps, cutting files and images for Doodle Dragon Studios. Definitely worth the visit.
I do not own any Copics and I have this beautiful container of aquarel pencils form Caran d'Ache so my goal was to use those. I also had a water brush so I used that one for the blending. It was hard, especially working with the brush but I do like how it turned out.

CS: Bazzill, Coredinations
Digi stamp: Dustin Pike
Embossing folder: Fiskars
Stamp: Hero Arts
Ink: StazOn
Water color pencils: Caran d'Ache
Misc: Bakers twine

You still have time to enter for our DT call. Go check out all the details at Let's Scrap!
At this point I am anxiously waiting for the UPS guy to deliver my new camera. Can't wait to start playing with it!
Thanks for stoppin' by and have a GREAT Friday.

Winner Let's scrap Leap around the World blog hop

With over 1,200 cards and LO's posted we can say our blog hop over at Let's Scrap was a HUGE success. I can not believe how many people participated and how many cards and LO's were made from my sketches. Some other thing that really impressed me was the amount of people that actually finished all 50 cards.
For all the hosts and participants: Thank you so much!
Every blog has a winner and the master winner's list is posted in our forum. The winner on my blog is: Ana! I have known Ana for quite a while and I absolutely love what she creates. If you have time take a peek at her blog. Ana was also one of those amazing people that finished all 50 cards. Hard for me to pick a favorite but I tried: This is one I really like. It is not my favorite since there are so many I really like.
Congrats Ana!

I have not scrapped for about two weeks, my mojo left and I do not know where to find it. I sure have enough photo's and enough supplies so that can not be the problem. Hopefully I'll be able to find it soon. I would really like to play with our month long challenge over at Let's Scrap.

Thanks so much for popping by and have a great week!
