Vakantie

Morgen is het zover! Dan gaan Annelies, Elise, Nicolle, Rosan en ik 5 dagen naar de sneeuw in Oostenrijk! Elise en ik kunnen niet skieen, maar we hebben al besloten dat wij ons ook daar prima gaan vermaken! Misschien dat we nog een lesje nemen.......... Bijgaande foto is van het huis en het uitzicht. niet vervelend zou ik zeggen!
Inmiddels is alles gepakt en morgen om 12.00 vertrekken we.

Tomorrow it's happening! Annelies, Elise, Nicolle, Rosan en myself are going to the snow in Austria! Elise and I can't ski, but we already decided that we are going to have a good time anyway! Maybe we will take a class............. Enclosed picture is from the house we are renting and our view. Everything is packed and we're leaving tomorrow at noon!

Foto van mezelf

Ik ben zelf meestal degene die hier in het gezin het fototoestel vasthoudt. Dat betekent dat er maar weinig foto's van mij zijn. En als ze er al zijn dan is het natuurlijk ook nog eens zo dat ik niet tevreden ben met het resultaat. (klinkt het bekend?)

De foto op deze layout is genomen tijdens het Sinterklaasfeest van Atos Origin afgelopen december. Ik zal niet zeggen dat ik er geweldig opsta, maar ik ben ook niet helemaal ontevreden. Bij het scrappen van deze foto heb ik mijn eigen stijl eens helemaal losgelaten en ben op gevoel gaan werken. Verschillende soorten (lees: lijnen) papier, niet combinerende kleuren en glitter.

Daarbij ook nog een beetje diepgaand geweest en een aantal eigenschappen van mezelf genoemd: zorgen makend, hopend, denken; altijd denken.

Mostly I am the one who is holding the camera in this household. That means that there are not a whole lot of pics of myself. And when there are pics taken of me; I am not to content with them (does that sound familiar?)

This picture was taken at the 'Sinterklaas' celebration at Atos Origin last December. I won't say it is a great picture, but I am happy with the way it turned out. While scrapping this picture I let go of my own style, my sense of combining colors and just scrapped with my guts. So I used different lines of paper, stickers and glitter.

I was also a little profound and put some of my caracteritics on the poper: hopeful, worring, thinking;always thinking.

Waterpokken

Ik heb de laatste weken heel veel gescrapt maar moet nog steeds eens een avondje met de camera aan de slag om mooie foto's te maken. Die hou je dus tegoed! Dus laat ik nu maar een van mijn absoluut favoriete layouts zien. Ik heb in de loop der jaren geleerd dat het ook heel belangrijk is om foto's te maken van 'niet zo leuke' dingen. Ik heb dus foto's van Joram als huilende baby, foto's van Joram toen hij in het ziekenhuis lag om zijn amandelen er uit te laten halen (Ik moet toegeven: Ik had ook graag foto's van de operatiekamer gehad) en dus ook foto's van Joram met de waterpokken. En die heb ik gescrapt. Hij zat vreselijk onder en ze zaten bijna overal. Er was een plek rondom zijn navel waar er minder zaten en ik bleef zeggen dat dat kwam omdat ik daar altijd kusjes gaf. Daar heeft Joram het nog steeds over.

I scrapped a lot the last couple of weeks but I have to find the time to get the camera out and take some pics. So, be a bit patient............ I am showing one of my all time favoraite layouts here. Over the years I learned that it is important to also take pictures of 'not so nice' moments in life. So I have pictures from Joram as a crying baby, pictures of him in the hospital when his tonsils & adenoids were taken out (I must admit: I would have loved to take some pics in the OR) and aslo pictures from Joram with chickenpocks. There were everywhere. There was one little spot around his belly button that was clear from the pocks. I told him that was because I was always kissing him there. He is still talking about that!

Onze vakantie

Altijd weer prettig om in het midden van de winter (met nachten van -10) weer je vakantiefoto's van afgelopen zomer te scrappen. Er gaat niets boven het zonnige Toscane in juli. Deze layout is supersimpel en ik was er dan ook heel snel mee klaar. Het lijkt alsof er een panoramafoto is gebruikt, maar ik heb gewoon twee foto's aan elkaar geplakt. De bos met pepers op de rechterfoto is op de linkerfoto links te zien (snappen jullie het nog???) De datum heb ik van de Scenic Route rub-ons afgerubt. Altijd weer een fijne verrassing als dat mogelijk blijkt te zijn

It is always a joy to scrap your summer vacation pics in the middel of winter (nights that have temps -10 celcius) There's nothing better than sunny Tuscany in July. This LO is very simple and I was done in no time. It seems like I used one of those panoramic pictures but I did not. Those are actually two pictures adhered together. The peppers on the right picture can be seen at the left of the left picture (Are you still with me???) The date rub-ons I got from the Scenic Route rub-ons (alsways a nice extra when those extra rub off too!)

Recepten

In een eerder bericht (klik hier) schreef ik al over Lisa en haar recepten. Waar ik toen niet over heb gescreven was haar eigen receptendoos. Die doos was van haar moeder geweest en zat stampvol recepten. En als ik stampvol zeg, dan bedoel ik ook stampvol. Maar toch kon zij in 1 greep het recept er uit halen dat ze nodig had. Er zaten recepten in die al meer dan veertig jaar oud waren en krantenknipsels die al bijna uit elkaar vielen. Een hele mooie collectie die bewaard moet blijven. Afgelopen week ben ik twee avonden bezig geweest om de recepten uit die doos te scannen. Een hele klus, waarbij ik prachtige recepten tegenkwam, maar ook veel emoties. Nooit zal ik meer koekjes of taart eten die Lisa gemaakt heeft......... In ieder geval niet in dit leven. Maar om het gelijk wat minder te maken: We kunnen altijd nog genieten van haar recepten. In de loop der jaren heb ik aardig wat van haar recepten in mijn receptendoos gestopt. Lisa, we zullen je niet vergeten!

In a previous post (click here) I already wrote about Lisa and her recipes. At that time I did not talk about her recipe box. The box belonged to her mom and was packed with recipes. And if I say packed: I mean packed. Though she was able to pick out a recipe in one shot. The box contained recipes that were more than 40 yo. There are paper clippings in there that almost fall apart. A gorgeous collection that should be kept forever. This past week I spend two nights scanning those recipes. A heck of a job, in which I found a lot of nice recipes but also lots of emotions. I will never eat cookies or cakes from her again...... Well, at least not in this life time. To make it a little less harsh: We can still enjoy her recipes. In the last couple of years I put quite a few of her recipes into my recipe box. Lisa, we won't forget you!

7 jaar!

Gisteren is Joram zeven jaar geworden! Een jongetje wat heel snel groot wordt. Hij wilde heel graag een knutselfeestje geven en heeft met zorg uitgekozen wie er uitgenodigd mocht worden. Uiteindelijk kregen acht meiden een uitnodiging! In al die jaren is er een keertje een jongen geweest en dat was meer omdat wij er op aangedrongen hadden. Dat doen we dus niet meer; hij mag helemaal zelf bepalen wie er komen. Joram speelt over het algemeen het liefst met meisjes, ik denk dat ik niet eens zou weten hoe ik een feestje met jongens moet entertainen. Joram was al om half vijf wakker en kon niet wachten tot de taart en de kadootjes kwamen. Hij is nog nooit zo zenuwachtig geweest! Om zeven uur gebeurde het dan eindelijk, een heerlijke chocoladetaart met zeven kaarsjes en een Nintendo DS. Joram was helemaal buiten adem toen hij het uit had gepakt.

Opa en oma, Oom Gerben en tante Karin & de kids kwamen en om 14.00 uur begon zijn feestje. Langzaam druppelden de dames binnen en natuurlijk begonnen we met kadootjes, taart en drinken. Daarna werd er heerlijk geknutseld, weer lekkers gegeten en uiteindelijk mocht iedereen met een tasje vol met knutselwerkjes en lekkers naar huis! Joram heeft een heerlijke dag gehad.

Joram turned seven yesterday! A boy that grows big very quickly. He wanted to throw a crafts party and carefully gave out the invitations. At the end eught girls got an invite. In all those years there's one party which a boy was invited to, and that was more because we pushed it. We stopped doing that; he's the one who decides who's coming. Joram just loves to play with girls. I don't even think I would know how to entertain a room full with boys..... Joram woke up at 4.30 and could not wait for the cake and the presents. He has never been so nervous before. At seven it finally happened and his chocolate mud cake and a Nintendo DS were brought in. He was totally out of breath after unpacking his gift!

Opa, Oma, aunt Karin, uncle Gerben and thek ids came over and at two his party started. Slowly all the ladies came in and afcourse we started with presents, cake and drinks. Then everybody enjoyed the crafts and at the end everybody went home with a goodie bagg full of crafts and candy. Joram had a blast today!

Nu zonder censuur.........

Annelies, Christel en Elise hebben allemaal toestemming gegeven om die criminele zwarte balk voor hun ogen weg te halen (gelukkig maar) en hier is dus de foto van de dames na een avond hard scrappen. Na Joram (nog 6 nachtjes slapen) is Loek als eerste jarig. Die heb ik dus al in gebruik gezien! Dus nog een keer vlnr: Annelies, Christel, Nicolle en Elise en hun resultaat van een avond noeste arbeid! Hierbij ook nog een foto van mijn eigen resultaat (wat natuurlijk al klaar was voordat de dames begonnen, dus ik hoefde niet zo veel) Zoals je ziet; Joram houdt hem goed bij!

Annelies, Christel en Elise all gave their permission to get rid of that criminal look (Thank goodness) so here's the pic of the ladies after a long night scrapping. Joram is the first one to have his birthday (6 nights to go) and after that is Loek. I saw that one in use! So one more time from left to right: Annelies, Christel, Nicolle en Elise and their results of a night of hard work. Also a pic of my countdown calendar. Ofcourse mine was done before the ladies started so I did not have to do that much that peticular night. As you see on the picture: Joram keeps good track of the days!

Eindhoven is Lampegat

Vanaf gisteren tot en met aanstaande dinsdag (als ik het goed heb) heet Eindhoven geen Eindhoven, maar Lampegat. Het is carnaval! Joram heeft gisteren op school carnaval gevierd en vandaag ben ik met hem naar de optocht geweest (papa moest zich voorbereiden op een HEEL belangrijke wedstrijd!) Joram ging gisten met zijn Taekwondo pak naar school en vandaag was hij omgetoverd tot tovenaar. We gingen op de fiets naar de stad en hebben het uit kunnen houden tot het einde van de optocht. Het was zoooooooo koud. De optocht was geweldig, Joram was natuurlijk vooral erg blij met al het snoepgoed dat van de wagens werd gegooid en uitgedeeld! Hij werd uit het publiek gepikt om de confettimachine aan de gang te krijgen. Hij vond het geweldig (kijk maar naar zijn lach op de foto) Ook heeft hij nog vier carnavals medailles gevangen! Morgen gaan we nog kindercarnaval vieren in 'De Merckthoeve' en misschien maandag nog even met ons drietjes de stad in.

Yesterday Carnival started and it will take all the way until tuesday. Eindhoven is not called Eindhoven anymore, but Lampegat (free transl: Lightbulb hamlet)-> referring to Philips and their lightbulbs that were made here. Yesterday Joram celebrated at school and today Joram and myself went to the big parade (daddy had to prepare himself for a BIG game tonight!). We lasted all the way which was kind of special, because it was FREEZING! At school Joram wore his Taekwondo outfit and today he was dressed up as a wizard. The parade was awesome. Joram was mostly happy with all the candy that was trown and given from the parade wagons. Joram was picked out of the people watching to get the confetti machine going. He was thrilled (see his face in the picture) He also caught four carnival medals. Tomorrow we'll be going to the childrens carnaval in 'De Merckthoeve' and thee three of us might be going downtown on monday.
