Ons huis is gebouwd in de vroege jaren zeventig en staat in een heerlijke buurt. Kinderen kunnen er vrij spelen en we wonen echt aan de rand van de stad. Ongeveer anderhalf jaar geleden zijn er hier en daar nieuwe straatnaamborden geplaatst en kregen we een brief van de gemeente waar in stond dat de oude borden zeer binnenkort verwijderd zouden worden. Maar wat er ook gebeurde: Er werd geen straatnaambord verwijderd. De borden hangen er al sinds de bouw van de huizen hier in de wijk. Toen Joram gisterenmiddag uit school kwam waren er medewerkers van de gemeente om de borden te vervangen en ook weer nieuwe op te hangen. En toen hebben we heel lief (echt waar!) gevraagd wat ze met die borden gingen doen. Wat bleek: Die worden weggegooid! En die allerliefste man was best bereid om Joram een mooi bord te geven voor in zijn kamer. Die medewerker had geen extra bord om mee te slepen en Joram krijgt zijn eigen straatnaambord op zijn kamer. Toen we gisterenmiddag laat uit Joram zijn slaapkamerraam keken bleek er ineens ook een bord aan de lantaarnpaal voor de deur te hangen. Kan er geen onduidelijkheid bestaan over de straat waar we in wonen!Our house was built in the early seventies of last century in a great neighbourhood. e. About a year and a half ago new streetsigns were put up here and there and we got a letter from the city in where they said that the old streetsigns were going to be removed soon. But all what happened: No signs were removed. Those signs have been up there ever since the houses were built. When I picked Joram up from school yesterday a couple of city employees were taking down the old signs and also putting up some new ones. We asked real nicely (true!) what they were going to do with the old street signs. It turns out there are throwing them away. And that real nice city employee was well willing to give a seven yo a street sign for his room. It was one less for him to carry around. When we looked out Jorams bedroom window yesterday afternoon we saw that they also put up a street sign at the lamppost that is in front of our house. At least it will be completely clear what street we live on!
