Baby taking shower / Baby onder de douche

DS Joram (who is now nine and a half) never really liked having a shower when he was a baby. He HATED the water splashing around and washing his hair was considered a small drama. He still doesn't like to be splashed with water but (thank goodness) washing his hair is no problem anymore and he turned out to be a very good swimmer. Who would have thought...........

On the contrary, DD Jinte LOVES taking a shower. She just enjoys playing with the water, having her hair done and even her face can be wet and she won't mind. How different siblings can be. Last week I took some photo's when she was taking a shower and after I put them on the computer I saw that I had the perfect before, while and after photo's. And when the new Let's Scrap sketch came out this wednesday I knew I wanted to scrap these photos.

The title was cut with the Silhouette and I made the big blue flower myself. I loved how it turned out. It looks like a bought one. (Don't be modest if you don't have to, LOL)

There's another milestone I want to share: This wednesday Jinte started both crawling and talking. Her crawling is not exactly as it should be but ever since she has been moving all over the livingroom. I have to childproof our house........................ And her first word she said also on Wednesday. I think it is the funniest first word. She says: 'Kijk es', which is Dutch for 'take a look at that' and she knows how to use it. What happended to Mommy and Daddy?

For all of you: Have a great weekend! The weather is going to be good here so I hope to enjoy some outside time. 

Zoonlief Joram (nu negen-en-een-half) vond het als baby nooit een pretje om onder de douche te gaan. Hij HAATTE het als zijn haar gewassen werd en het spetteren in bad of onder de douche vond ie ook echt helemaal niets. Hij vind het nog steeds niet als ie wordt nat gespetterd, maar het drama haren wassen is (gelukkig) al lang geen drama meer en hij is ook nog eens een hele goede zwemmer geworden. Wie had dat ooit gedacht?

Daarentegen HOUDT dochterlief Jinte enorm van douchen. Ze vondt het heerlijk om met water te spelen, te spetteren en haren wassen is helemaal niet erg. Zelfs kunnen we haar gezicht afspoelen. Hoe verschillend kunnen twee kinderen uit hetzelfde gezin zijn.

Vorige week heb ik een paar foto's genomen toen Jinte onder de douche zat. Pas nadat ik ze op de computer had gezet realiseerde ik me dat ik een geweldige voor-tijdens-na serie had. En toen afgelopen woensdag de nieuwe sketch van Let's Scrap uitkwam wist ik dat ik deze foto's moest gebruiken.

De titel heb ik gesneden met mijn Silhouette en de grote bloem heb ik zelf gemaakt. Ik vind dat die er helemaal geweldig uitziet (Waarom zou je bescheiden zijn als het niet hoeft? Hahaha)

Verder wilde ik nog met jullie delen dat Jinte sinds woensdag kruipt en praat! Wat een enorme verandering is dat! Het kruipen is nog niet helemaal volgens het boekje, maar ze komt de hele kamer door. En dat betekent dus dat ik heel snel ons huis kindvriendelijk moet maken.......................... Haar eerste woordje zei ze ook op woensdag. Ik vind het het raarste eerste woordje dat ik ooit heb gehoord. Ze zegt: 'Kijk es' en gebruikt het ook overal bij als er iets te zien is. Wat is er toch gebeurd met die kinderen die gewoon 'papa' of 'mama' zeiden als eerste woordje?

Voor iedereen: Een heel goed weekend! Het wordt hier geweldig mooi weer dus ik hoop wat tijd buiten te kunnen doorbrengen.

Scrapping food photo's / Foto's van eten scrappen

Every now and then I take photo's of meals or dishes I make. Mainly because I like the way they look and also because I want to share my recipes. Ofcourse those are the photo's that are last in line when it comes to scrapping. When you are having a choice between photo's of your kids or the last cake you made...........duuuuuh.................

Every year we have a Canadian Thanksgiving party at friends of ours. With three Canadians in our household (I guess that makes me the only foreigner here, LOL) I had to make a pumpkin pie from scratch. Since we never have heard of canned pumpkin here I always make mine using fresh pumpkin, which tastes better anyway. If you want to take a look at the recipe you can find it HERE in a previous post.

At Let's Scrap there was a challenge using food photo's. And those photo's should not include people eating. Well, the obvious thing to do was to make a layout with the recipe beside it. And for a change: I did the obvious.......................... The photo was taken in October last year.

Af en toe maak ik foto's van gerechten of zoetigheden die ik heb klaargemaakt. Meestal omdat ik vind dat ze er mooi uitzien, maar ook omdat ik ze wil bloggen en dus iedereen wil laten meegenieten van mijn recepten. Maar dat zijn natuurlijk wel de foto's die niet vooraan in de rij liggen als er gescrapt moet worden. Zeg nou zelf: Een foto van je kinderen of die van een taart..................... duidelijk dus................

Ieder jaar vieren we Canadian Thanksgiving bij vrienden van ons. Met drie Canadezen in ons huishouden (dat maakt mij dus eigenlijk de buitenlander hier, hahaha) moest ik natuurlijk wel een pompoentaart maken. Aangezien we hier in Nederland nog nooit gehoord hebben van pompoen in blik moet ik wel verse pompoen gebruiken. Wat natuurlijk ook eigenlijk het lekkerste is. Als je het recept wil bekijken kun je dat HIER in een eerder bericht doen.

Bij Let's Scrap was er een challenge om foto's van eten te gebruiken. Een voorwaarde was wel dat het niet ging om etende mensen. Het meest voor de hand liggende was wel om een recept van het gerecht bij te voegen. Voor de verandering heb ik het voor de hand liggende gedaan................ De foto is in oktober 2009 genomen.

The Happiness Project week 16

This week I am on time and posting Leigh's Happiness Project on Tuesday! This photo was taken last Saturday in Elburg while we were out with the entire family (21 persons) We have lived in an old house before (1930's) and I said I would not want that ever again, but this one was too cute so I had to take a photo. Normally I take tons of photo's on days like this but this time I was less lucky because I forgot to take my memory card out of the computer and put it back in my camera. So I came there with the possibility to store only five photo's on the internal memory of the camera. All the stores I went to did not have the good card for my camera. We were not too lucky with the weather but both Jinte and Joram had a blast. The son of one of my cousins is about dd Joram's age and they played well together.

Deze week ben ik op tijd met het Happiness Project van Leigh en plaats het dus op dinsdag. Deze foto is afgelopen zaterdag in Elburg genomen toen we daar met de hele familie (21 man) waren. We hebben eerder in een oud huis gewoond (jaren '30) en ik zou dat echt niet meer willen, maar dit was zo schattig, ik moest er een foto van nemen. Normaal gesproken neem ik op dagen als deze heel veel foto's maar ik kwam erachter dat ik de geheugenkaart van mijn camera in de computer had laten zitten. Ik was dus aangewezen op 5 foto's die ik op mijn interne geheugen van mijn camera kon zetten. En geen enkele winkel die ik bezocht had de goede kaart voor mijn camera.

We hadden niet zoveel geluk met het weer maar zowel Joram als Jinte hebben een heerlijke dag gehad. Het zoontje van een van mijn nichten is van Joram zijn leeftijd en ze hebben de hele dag lekker gespeeld.

Father's Day card / Vaderdag kaart

By this time I hope our Father's Day card has arrived in Canada so I can post it here without my inlaws seeing it before it even got there in the mail. You know that making cards are not the easiest thing for me and especially not the masculin ones. I had these father like papers lying around for years and I thought this would be the perfect occasion to use.

I think it turned out pretty good. I hope my FIL likes it................

Ik denk dat onze vaderdagkaart nu wel in Canada in aangekomen en kan ik hem hier plaatsen zonder dat mijn schoonouders het zien voordat ie echt op de mat ligt. Zoals je weet is kaarten maken is niet echt mijn ding en zeker niet als het ook nog mannelijke kaarten moeten worden. Dit dessinpapier had ik al jaren liggen en ik dacht dat dit wel de perfecte gelegenheid zou zijn om ze te gebruiken.

Ik ben best tevreden met het eindresultaat. Ik hoop mijn schoonvader ook......................

Een hele fijne week!

Double masking technique / Dubbele maskeertechniek

On this layout I tried a new technique, the double masking technique. Yesterday I posted about this technique and the great tutorial on Midnight Rooster and I right away gave it a try. I love how it turned out. Especially because my turquoise Glimmer Mist on the craft cardstock turned out exactly the same color as my patterned paper. The photo's are from April 2009 when Joram and his friend Nienke were having fun with Duplo (I know they should be way too old for that, but they still like it) I used a card sketch from Let's Scrap as inspiration for this layout. I love these kind of sketches because they give me the possibility to have a lot of 'white' space on my layouts. And another good thing: I used all paper scraps for this layouts! I am getting better with that and one day I will finish all my scraps....................

Op deze layout heb ik een nieuwe techniek geprobeerd; de dubble maskeertechniek. Gisteren heb ik ook al over deze techniek geschreven en over de geweldige werkbeschrijving die ik had gevonden op Midnight Rooster. Ik ben er gisterenavond gelijk mee aan de slag gegaan. Ik ben erg blij met hoe het is geworden. En helemaal omdat de turquoise Glimmer Mist op de kraft cardstock exact dezelfde kleur is als mijn dessinpapier. De foto is in april 2009 genomen toen Joram en zijn vriendin Nienke aan het spelen waren met Duplo (Ik weet het; ze zijn eigenlijk veel te groot voor Duplo, maar ze spelen er toch nog steeds heel leuk mee)
Ik heb een kaart schets van Let's Scrap als inspiratie gebruikt. Ik ben gek op schetsen als deze omdat ze me de mogelijkheid geven om veel 'witte' ruimte te creeeren. Iets anders: Ik heb alleen maar restjes papier gebruikt voor deze layout: Het gaat ooit opkomen..................

I have quite a few blogs that I read and Leigh vs. Laundry is one of them. Leigh is having a great give-a-way for a beautiful necklace. You might want to check Leigh's blog to check it out and enter to make a chance. You also might want to visit Jessica Sprague. Jessica is offering a free class called: Computer Tricks for cards. I did some of Jessica's classes and I love what I learn. You can register HERE. Registration started on June 14th and the actual class will start on June 28th. I came upon this blog called Midnight Rooster and they have this great tutorial for a Glimmer Mist Double masking technique. Looks really cool. I am definitely going to try that! Paper Glitter is a great blog and they always have great printable freebies. This time they are giving Father's Day cupcake toppers away. You can also use them als circle labels or as gift tags. While you are there you should take a look at their store. They have great printables and they are very affordable. Another cool idea for Father's Day is this tin of tokens at Eightteen25. This will be a great thing to do with the kids.

Er zijn aardig wat blogs die ik lees en Leigh vs. Laundry is er een van. Leigh heeft een geweldige ketting om weg te geven. Als je een kans wilt maken moet je echt even naar Leigh's blog.

Verder moet je ook eens kijken bij Jessica Sprague. Jessica heeft een gratis workshop 'Computer Tricks for cards'. Ik heb een paar van haar cursussen gedaan en ben iedere keer weer blij met wat ik geleerd heb. De registratie is gestart op 14 juni en de workshop start op 28 juni. Je kunt je HIER inschrijven.

Ik kwam op een blog genaamd Midnight Rooster en er is daar een geweldige werkbeschrijving geplaatst van de dubbel mask techniek met glimmer mist. Dat ga ik zeker proberen!

Paper Glitter heeft een geweldig blog en ze bieden ook altijd geweldige freebies aan. Ze hebben nu een hele leuke voor vaderdag: Labels voor op cakejes of om gewoon als lables te gebruiken. Als je toch op hun blog bent moet je ook gelijk eens een kijkje in de online winkel kijken. Echt hele leuke en betaalbare dingen.

Een ander heel leuk idee voor vaderdag is dit blik met tegoedbonnen voor vader bij Eightteen25. Een geweldig leuk idee om met de kinderen te maken.

The Happiness Project

Okay, I'll be the first one to admit: I am a day late for Leigh's Happiness Project. But I have been mixing up the days and I thought it was Tuesday today until someone mentioned otherwise.

Anyways. My photo for this week is one from Jinte and it was taken last night when she was taking a shower. Other than DS Joram at that same age she loves the water. I love the sparkle in her eyes on this photo. I can not believe she will be turning one in about six weeks. Time flies! 

Oke, ik geef het toe. Ik ben een dag te laat met Leigh's Happiness Project! Mijn excuus is heel simpel: Ik ben een beetje in de war met de dagen. Ik dacht dat het dinsdag was totdat iemand mij er vanmorgen op wees dat het toch echt woensdag was. Maar goed: Mijn foto van deze week is er eentje van Jinte. Deze is gisterenavond genomen toen ze onder de douche zat. Zij vindt de douche heerlijk, en dat terwijl Joram op die leeftijd het gespetter helemaal niet zo lekker vond. Ik vind de schittering in haar ogen op deze foto helemaal geweldig! Over ongeveer zes weken wordt ze alweer een jaar. Wat vliegt de tijd!  

Scrapping every day photo's part 2 / Alledaagse foto's scrappen deel 2

I got the chance to do some scrapping today (after I did three loads of laundry, cleaned here and there) Again I scrapped some 'ordinary' photo's. These are from DS Joram and his BFF Merel. They have known each other since they were two years old and have been best friends ever since. They can play, talk and laugh for hours and hours and never get bored. I am always amazed about the connection they have. They are true soulmates.

Vandaag had ik de kans om weer wat te scrappen (na drie wassen te hebben gedraaid en hier en daar was te hebben huisgehouden). En weer heb ik 'gewone' foto's gescrapt. Deze keer van zoonlief Joram en zijn beste vriendin Merel. Ze kennen elkaar sinds ze twee zijn en zijn sindsdien de beste vrienden. Ze kunnen uren en uren praten, lachen en spelen zonder zich een moment te vervelen. Ik vind de 'klik' die ze samen hebben erg bijzonder. Het zijn echte zielsverwanten.

Excuses for the slechte kleurkwaliteit van de grote foto. Normaal gesproken scan ik mijn layouts altijd omdat je dan het beste je kleur behoudt, maar deze was te 'dik' om te scannen. Maar ik had ook weer niet genoeg licht om een mooie foto te maken. Ik probeer het morgenochtend nog een keer. De kleuren zijn overigens net zo als op de detailfoto's.

Scrapping every day photo's / Alledaagse foto's scrappen

My regular readers know that I have way too many photo's to be able to scrap in a lifetime. The bad thing about that is that sometimes I only scrap my favorite ones, or the ones with special events on there. Basically it means that I have lots of photo's from every day moments and I never know what to do with them. Mainly because I have no inspiration on what to write about or what the title is going to be.

I have noticed that most of my every day photo's have a lot to tell.

At Let's Scrap a challenge was posted: Scrap your 'ordinary' photo's! I right away had a photo in mind that I was going to scrap. This pic was taken in April 2009 when my brother in law and his family were over. On this photo DH Richard and his brother John are competing eachother on the Nintendo DS playing Mario Kart. The photo is not taken well (I guess both guys will agree when they see the top of their heads on this photo) and you can't really see what they are doing.

But the story behind it is kind of special: This seems like such an ordinary photo but technically it isn't. The two brothers live almost 6000 kilometres apart. So this photo is not so ordinary (this is what I call creative title work, LOL)

Geeh, I noticed that I made this layout with some old products: Daisy D's, Rusty Pickle and Lil Davis are all out of business. I was a heavy year for the scrapbooking industry. I am still missing my favorite magazine: Memory Makers. I would have never thought they would go out of business. I am very happy that they still make books.

Mijn vaste lezers weten het inmiddels wel: Ik heb zoveel foto'. die ik kan in mijn hele leven nog niet scrappen. Het nadeel daaraan is dat ik soms alleen maar mijn favoriete foto's scrap en dat zijn dan meestal speciale gebeurtenissen. Dat betekent dat heel veel foto's uit het leven van alledag blijven liggen. Vooral omdat ik geen inspiratie kan vinden om ze te scrappen. En dan vooral over wat ik ga schrijven en wat de titel zal worden.

En dat terwijl ik gemerkt heb dat juist die foto's van alledag zoveel te vertellen hebben.

Bij Let's Scrap was er een challenge: Scrap je 'gewone' foto's. Ik wist meteen welke foto ik zou gaan scrappen. Deze foto is genomen toen mijn zwager en zijn familie hier waren in April 2009. Op deze foto zijn manlief Richard en zijn broer John aan het Mario Kart-en op de Nintendo DS. De foto is eigenlijk heel slecht genomen (ik weet zeker dat beide mannen het met me eens zullen zijn als ze deze foto zien) en je kunt eigenlijk niet eens zien wat ze aan het doen zijn.

Toch is het wel een beetje speciale foto. Het lijkt zo gewoon: Twee broers DS-en, maar als je bedenkt dat deze broers bijna 6000 kilometer uit elkaar wonen is het toch weer niet zo heel gewoon (not so ordinary). Dus deze foto is 'not so ordinary' (Dat bedoel ik met een creatieve titel, hahaha)

Jeetje, het valtm e op dat ik deze layout heb gemaakt met oude lijnen. Rusty Pickle, Daisy D's en Lil Davis bestaan alledrie nietm eer. Het is een zwaar jaar geweest voor de scrapbook industrie. Zo mis ik ook nog steeds mijn favoriete tijdschrift: Memory Makers. Ik had echt nooit gedacht dat die het niet zouden redden en zouden stoppen met het uitgeven van het tijdschrift. Gelukig geven ze nog wel steeds boeken uit.
