Mason jars, have to love them....

When we visited Canada last year I stacked my suitcases full with Mason Jars. Not the regular ones, but the ones with 'Canadian' on them. I filled met with socks, underwear and everything else that would fit in there to make sure they would survive the trip. They all did and are now used for storage in my studio. I filled them with buttons, flowers, spools, tins and even chandelier pendants. Love the way they look.

But one thing I never didand always wanted was to sort of decorate them. So this week I finally bought some supplies for that and got out my tin of vintage keys I scored on Ebay a while back. So with some twine, butlap, hemp cord, a door knop and keys I made it into the cutest jar ever. 

I started wih the lid. I did not have a full lid, only a ring with the loose lid in there so I started by glueing them together so it was transformed into an actual lid. Then I punched a hole in the middle with my biggest eyelet puncher (the old fashion one, you know, with the hammer ;) ) My advice: First punch the hole and then glue the pieces of the lid together, so much easier

At last I spray painted the lid white and added the knob. After that it was only a matter of decorating with the twine, burlap and the hemp cord.

I could call this a Pinterest challenge done since I have a Mason Jar board on Pinterest. Hhhhmmmmm, maybe I should look for a new challenge to do. But furst things first. I still have to start Chriss' challenge at Let's Scrap. Love recipe challenge and I do want to play.

Scrapped / pimped a bag / Een tas gescrapt / gepimpt

I was at a scrapbook trade show a couple of weeks ago and saw this purse that they scrapped and offered this as a class. Well, I did steal the idea of scrapping a purse but did not take the class! I have always wanted to have an army duffle bag but never wanted a plain one. This was THE moment ot alter one (or scrap or pimp or whatever you may call it.........) I ordered a duffle bag online and started working on it. It was harder than I thought because I am so used to having photo's on my 'canvas'.

I am very content wit the final result.

I used my Quickutz Flourish dies (the Revolution ones) to cut felt. The inside of the bag and the carrying handle were covered with oil cloth. I printed a quote from Rhonna Farrer and laminated it to make it spill and water proof.

The fun thing is: I already got four people asking if I can make one for them............... Mmmmh, could this be my new carreer?

Ik was een paar weken geleden op een scrapbook beurs en zag daar een gepimpte tas hagen. Een erg leuk idee en ze boden ook een workshop aan. Nou heb ik wel het idee gestolen maar niet de workshop gedaan. Ik heb altijd al een legerpukkel willen hebben maar wilde toch geen 'kale'. Dit was dus het uitgelzen moment om een tas te scrappen (of pimpen of alteren of hoe je het ook maar mag noemen...........)

Ik heb online een pukkel besteld en ben aan de slag gegaan. Het was nog niet makkelijk omdat ik gewend ben aan het gebruiken van foto's op mijn 'canvas'

Ik ben erg tevreden met het uiteindelijke resultaat.

Ik heb vilt gesneden met mijn 'flourish' dies van Quickutz (de 4x4 voor de Revolution). De binnenkant van de klep en de binnenkant van het handvat zijn bekleed met tafelzeil. Ik heb een quote van Rhonna Farrer geprint en die gelamineerd zodat ie beter beschermd is tegen vuil en water.

Het leuke is: Ik heb al vier mensen die ook zo'n tas willen. Misschien ligt daar een nieuwe carrieremogelijkheid?

Collage gift for a girl / Collage pop als kadootje voor een meid!

I have been such a lousy blogger the last couple of weeks. Normally I would have some time during the day but lately it has been busy and hectic and then blogging is not my main priority. But now DD Jinte is taking a nap, DS Joram is in school so I have 15 minutes (then I will be picking up Joram again) to do some blogging.

I was thinking about posting a tutorial about creating a background with tissuepaper but since I only have 15 minutes I'll do that this weekend.

Doing the tissuepaper beackground technique was one of the things I have wanted to do forever and never got around to it. Then there was this great challenge at Let's Scrap and one of the things I had to do was using a new (new to me) technique. Well, I did. Again, I will post about that this weekend.

Something else I always wanted to try was to make a collage doll with a pic as the head. I know I am not such a good 'collage girl' so I never really tried. But this week Nicole's DD Renée turned eight and I thought it was a great reason to try and actually do it! And I must admit it was so much fun to do and I was so pleased with the final result. But then you never know what a child will think about it (they could very well be thinking that's it's a weird looking thing with those long pink arms and legs) I decided not to wrap it so DS Joram could take a look at it in the morning and be the judge of it. He took a look at it and was hooked! he wanted one too. So I wrapped it and gave it to Renée. Thank goodness she also loved it!

Ik ben niet zo'n hele trouwe blogger geweest de afgelopen weken. normaal gesproken heb ik overdag nog wel eens tijd om te bloggen maar het is de laatse tijd druk en hectisch geweest en dan snap je dat bloggen niet echt mijn eerste prioriteit heeft. Maar Jinte slaapt nu en Joram zit op school en ik heb nu een kwartiertje (dan moet ik Joram weer ophalen) om even te bloggen. Ik wilde eigenlijk een tutorial plaatsen over het maken van een achtergrond met vloeipapier maar daar heb ik toch echt meer tijd voor nodig dan een kwartiertje. Dat doe ik dus dit weekend.

Een achtergrond van vloeipapier maken was een techniek die ik altijd al eens een keer heb willen proberen maar eigenlijk nooit aan toegekomen ben. Op Let's Scrap was er een challenge en die hield onder andere in dat je een nieuwe techniek (nieuw voor mij) ging toepassen en dat was dus de ideale gelegenheid om het eindelijk eens te doen. Nogmaals; dit weekend laat ik het je weten.

Iets anders wat ik al altijd heb willen doen was het maken van een collage pop met een foto van een hoofd. Ik weet dat ik niet echt een 'collagemaker' ben, dus heb mezelf er nooit aan gewaagd. Afgelopen week werd Nicole's dochter Renée acht jaar en ik vond dat dat een hele goede reden was om het nu eindelijk eens te doen. Ik moet toegeven dat het geweldig leuk was om te doen en ik was heel erg tevreden met het uiteindelijke resultaat. Maar omdat je nooit weet wat kinderen van iets vinden had ik het niet ingepakt zodat Joram kon oordelen of het 'echt' leuk was. Voor hetzelfde geldt denken ze dat het een raar uitziend ding is met die lange glitter armen en benen. Joram keek ernaar en vond het helemaal geweldig. Hij wil er ook eentje! Dus heb ik het ingepakt en aan Renée gegeven. En ook zij vond het gelukkig helemaal leuk.

Doorhanger for childrens room / Deurhanger voor kinderkamer

Joram really wanted to have something hanging on his door and just loved the idea of a 'homemade' doorhanger. He picked out the wooden star so I could alter it into a doorhanger. I used Bazzill Bling as a base and the cute little robot is from K&Company. Something very cool about that robot: There's a little button on there and it you press that the robot has eleven lights in there that start flashing in different colors. There's even the possibility of changing batteries. What a cool little item! I know they have different varieties, like a magic wand, a crown or a chandelier.

Joram also picked the shape for Jinte (he said that if he got a doorhanger, she was allowed to have one too. I just love that little boy!) and I just made that one into a sweet red and white doorhanger. Maybe I'll ask Richard to drill another hole by the collage of frames in Jintes' room, LOL............................

Joram wilde heel erg graag een deurhanger and eigenlijk eentje die ik voor hem gemaakt had. Hij koos een houten ster uit die ik dan mocht pimpen. Ik heb Bazzill Bling gebruikt als basis en dat schattige robotje is van K&Company. Iets heel leuks over dat robotje: Er zit een knopje op en als je dat indrukt gaan er elf lampjes flitsen in allerlei verschillende kleuren. Wat een geweldig leuk ding! Je hebt zelfs nog de mogelijkheid om de batterijen te verwisselen. Er zijn nog meer varianten zoals een toverstokje, een kroontje en een kroonluchter.

Joram heeft ook een vorm uitgezocht voor Jinte. Want hij vond dat als hij een deurhanger kreeg dat zijn zusje er ook eentje moest hebben (Wat hou ik toch van dat jongetje!). Ik heb die erg simpel gehouden in de kleuren rood wit van haar kamer. Misschien vraag ik Richard wel om nog een gaatje te boren bij mijn collage van lijsten in Jinte's kamer, hahahaha..............

Okay here she is............

Nursery wall decor / Babykamer muurdecoratie

Over the last couple of months I have been making wall decor items for Jinte's room. As you might know her room is red&white (you can see her room in THIS post) and it was very hard to find nice wall decorations. Right now they are all standing in her room, but I hope that DH Richard finds the time to hang them up tomorrow (It's not that I can't do it, but I would just use nails and a hammer and he loves to drill holes).

Tonight I altered a letter J. It's one of those cardboard J's from the craft store (about 7" high). I painted it red and glued some ribbon on and added some fuzzy rub-ons from Heidi Swapp. It was one of those easy peasy projects that only took about 15 minutes.

The one frame with the bear was also very easy. I bought one of those cute bear key chain hangers, I attached it to the glass and added some bling, that's it. The frame with the poem is made with the poem that my BFF Marjan wrote on the card that she gave when Jinte was born. I just printed and framed it. The one with the abstract belly is the front of Jinte's birth announcement.

I hope that I will be able to show you some pics of them all hanging tomorrow.....................

In de afgelopen maanden heb ik een aantal dingen gemaakt om bij Jinte in haar kamer aan de muur te hangen. Zoals je wellicht weet is haar kamer rood met wit (je kunt hem HIER zien) en het was heel moeilijk om leuke dingen voor aan de muur te vinden. Nu staan al die dingen op de vensterbank maar ik hoop dat manlief Richard morgen tijd heeft om ze op te hangen (Niet dat ik dat zelf niet kan, maar ik zou ze gewoon ophangen met een spijker en Richard gebruikt graag de boormachine).

Vanavond heb een letter J gepimpt. Het is gewoon een van die papiermache letters uit de hobbyzaak (zo'n 18 cm hoog) die ik rood heb geverfd, een lintje op heb geplakt en een paar fuzzy rub-ons van Heidi Swapp. Heel erg makkelijk dus, ik was in een kwartiertje klaar.

Het lijstje met de beer was ook erg makkelijk. Ik heb gewoon het beertje op het glas geplakt en wat bling toegevoegd. Het lijstje met het rijmpje is naar aanleiding van de kaart die ik van Marjan heb gehad toen Jinte was geboren. Gewoon geprint en ingelijst. De lijst met het plaatje van de abstracte buik is de ingelijste voorkant van het geboortekaartje van Jinte.

Ik hoop dat ik morgen foto's kan laten zien van al die dingen aan de muur.................

Elise is jarig! / It's Elise's birthday!

Vandaag is Elise jarig! En dat vraagt om een feestje en een kadootje. Eerdere jaren heb ik al mini-albums voor haar gescrapt en dit jaar wilde ik toch iets anders. En dan ga ik er nu van uit dat zij het komende half uur niet meer mijn weblog bezoekt.
Ik heb een magnetisch memobord gescrapt en in een mooie lijst gedaan. Met mijn Bind-it-All heb ik een notitieboekje gemaakt (Wat een geweldig apparaat, ik ben helemaal blij) Ik heb een foto van haar drie meiden gelamineerd en in een chipboard frame geplakt. Veel werk, maar een erg leuk resultaat. Ik hoop dat ze er blij mee is!

Today is Elise's birthday! That is reason for a party and a present. In the years before I already made her mini albums so I thought it would be time for a change. I do hope that she will not be visiting my weblog in the next half hour or so.

I scrapped a magnetic board and framed it. With my Bind-it-All (awesome machine, I am very happy with it) I laminated a picture of her three girls and framed it in chipboard. A lot of work, but with a great result. Now let's hope she likes it!
