Scrapping best friends forever

DS Joram has a best friend and they have been best friends ever since they were two years old and met at the playgroup they both attended. Now they are both ten and they are still best friends. One year school separated them by putting them in different classes so they would also play with different kids. The result: They ended up playing together during play breaks and after school. Both Merels (DS BFF name) mother and me went to school to say that they needed to be in the same class again. School listened to us and ever since they have been in the same class.

They have a weird friendship, they can talk like they are already been married for fifty years but they can also giggle and laugh as teenage girls. The fun thing is: They are not getting married they say, they are both in love with someone else.

I know friendship at that age will change and maybe fade away but the way it is now, they are friends for life!

Double masking technique / Dubbele maskeertechniek

On this layout I tried a new technique, the double masking technique. Yesterday I posted about this technique and the great tutorial on Midnight Rooster and I right away gave it a try. I love how it turned out. Especially because my turquoise Glimmer Mist on the craft cardstock turned out exactly the same color as my patterned paper. The photo's are from April 2009 when Joram and his friend Nienke were having fun with Duplo (I know they should be way too old for that, but they still like it) I used a card sketch from Let's Scrap as inspiration for this layout. I love these kind of sketches because they give me the possibility to have a lot of 'white' space on my layouts. And another good thing: I used all paper scraps for this layouts! I am getting better with that and one day I will finish all my scraps....................

The weekend has started! Have a good one!

Op deze layout heb ik een nieuwe techniek geprobeerd; de dubble maskeertechniek. Gisteren heb ik ook al over deze techniek geschreven en over de geweldige werkbeschrijving die ik had gevonden op Midnight Rooster. Ik ben er gisterenavond gelijk mee aan de slag gegaan. Ik ben erg blij met hoe het is geworden. En helemaal omdat de turquoise Glimmer Mist op de kraft cardstock exact dezelfde kleur is als mijn dessinpapier. De foto is in april 2009 genomen toen Joram en zijn vriendin Nienke aan het spelen waren met Duplo (Ik weet het; ze zijn eigenlijk veel te groot voor Duplo, maar ze spelen er toch nog steeds heel leuk mee)
Ik heb een kaart schets van Let's Scrap als inspiratie gebruikt. Ik ben gek op schetsen als deze omdat ze me de mogelijkheid geven om veel 'witte' ruimte te creeeren. Iets anders: Ik heb alleen maar restjes papier gebruikt voor deze layout: Het gaat ooit opkomen..................

Scrapping every day photo's part 2 / Alledaagse foto's scrappen deel 2

I got the chance to do some scrapping today (after I did three loads of laundry, cleaned here and there) Again I scrapped some 'ordinary' photo's. These are from DS Joram and his BFF Merel. They have known each other since they were two years old and have been best friends ever since. They can play, talk and laugh for hours and hours and never get bored. I am always amazed about the connection they have. They are true soulmates.

Vandaag had ik de kans om weer wat te scrappen (na drie wassen te hebben gedraaid en hier en daar was te hebben huisgehouden). En weer heb ik 'gewone' foto's gescrapt. Deze keer van zoonlief Joram en zijn beste vriendin Merel. Ze kennen elkaar sinds ze twee zijn en zijn sindsdien de beste vrienden. Ze kunnen uren en uren praten, lachen en spelen zonder zich een moment te vervelen. Ik vind de 'klik' die ze samen hebben erg bijzonder. Het zijn echte zielsverwanten.

Excuses for the slechte kleurkwaliteit van de grote foto. Normaal gesproken scan ik mijn layouts altijd omdat je dan het beste je kleur behoudt, maar deze was te 'dik' om te scannen. Maar ik had ook weer niet genoeg licht om een mooie foto te maken. Ik probeer het morgenochtend nog een keer. De kleuren zijn overigens net zo als op de detailfoto's.

Scrapping brother and sister / Broer en zus scrappen

Ofcourse I did know that DS Joram and DD Jinte hadsome similaritites but it was not until I saw pictures from Joram at the same age when it really hit me. They do look alike!

The two photo's I used on this layout were screaming to be scrapped on the same page.

I used Joram's school photo from last year to show what he looks like now. Well, 'now' is a big thing. Today the new school photos were taken. I love the fact that they have a brother/sister opportunity. So I can come to school with Jinte at a certain time so they can be on the photo together. Ofcourse you also get a set from the individuals but still it's nice to have photo's were they are both on! Now we just need to wait a couple of weeks to see them, I can't wait.

Tomorrow I will be shopping with my BFF Marjan. I am in desperate need of clothes. Especially shirts, sweaters and pants. Well, that actually means that I need everything! And I am still looking for nice summer shoes. I do have a lot of shoes (I can hear DH laugh) but I am in need of a pair of dressy summer shoes with a little heel but not too high. So ones you can wear under both shorts, skirts and dresses.

Natuurlijk wist ik dat Joram en Jinte wel uiterlijke overeenkomsten hadden maar dat ze echt zoveel op elkaar leken zag ik pas toen ik twee foto's van hen op dezelfde leeftijd bij elkaar zag. Ze lijken echt op elkaar!

De twee foto's die ik gebruikt hebben schreeuwden om bij elkaar op een layout gebruikt te worden.

Ik heb Jorams schoolfoto gebruikt om telaten zien hoe hij er nu uitziet. Nou, 'nu' is ook wel weer relatief want vandaag zijn alweer de nieuwe schoolfoto's gemaakt. Ik ben heel blij met de broer/zus mogelijkheid. Het geeft de mogelijkheid om broertjes en zusjes samen op de foto te zetten. Dat kan ook als de een van de kinderen helemaal niet op school zit. Natuurlijk krijg ik ook een set waar Joram zelf op staat, maar het is wel heel leuk om foto's te hebben waar ze samen op staan. Nu alleen nog een paar weken wachten om te zien hoe ze geworden zijn: Ik ben benieuwd!

Morgen ga ik lekker winkelen met mijn beste vriendin Marjan. Ik heb heel hard kleding nodig. Ik moet echt een paar nieuwe shirts, truien en broeken hebben (eigenlijk heb ik dus alles nodig). En ik ben ook nog op zoek naar een paar mooie zomeschoenen (ik hoor manlief al lachen) Ik heb wel heel veel zomerschoenen maar heb vooral behoefte aan een paar nette zomerschoen met ene niet al te hoge hak. Hoge hakken heb ik genoeg! Dus schoenen die je onder een korte broek kan dragen, maar ook onder een rok of jurk.

Scrapping with Stickles

My BFF Marjan and me scrap almost every monday night. We wouldl ike to scrap every day of the week, but alas, there's other things to do. Last week we were scrapping here and Marjan was making a mini album with pics from a trip to Luxemburg. She had a page done and after looking at it for a long time she decided it needed some glitter. Then a bottle of Stickles will do the job. She decided green was the color and as usual: The bottle was clogged up. No problem there either: Take a needle and open the hole again. Easy peasy pie!

So she started to glitter her flowers with Stickles. But the glue came out harder than she thought and she gave that bottle an extra squeeze. Well, you already see it coming: The little cap flew off and a huge blob of green glitter glue ended up on her page. No need to say that we laughed our brains out all the way until we had tears in our eyes.

And I was so happy that I had my camera lying around (I just transferred my photos onto my computer) and started snapping. Can you figure out what my next page is going to be???????????

By the way: She wiped of the glue and it turned out very pretty!

To explain a little: My work surface was completely empty when we started: There was nothing lying on that table (which is 200x100 cm) I think every scrapper knows this: What a mess we make!

Mijn vriendin Marjan en ik scrappen bijna ieder maandagavond (we zouden eigenlijk iedere avond wel willen, maar er zijn nog andere dingen die moeten) Vorige week zaten we dus hier te scrappen en Marjan was een minialbum aan het maken met foto's van een reisje naar Luxemburg. Ze had een pagina af en na heel lang kijken bedacht ze dat die pagina nog iets nodig had: Glitter! Dan is een flesje Stickles wat je nodig hebt. Groen moest de kleur worden en zoals gewoonlijk zat het flesje verstopt. Maar dat is makkelijk op te lossen: Je neemt een naald en prikt het gaatje door. Toen begon Marjan met het aanbrengen van de Stickles op haar pagina maar de lijm kwam er toch moeilijker uit dan normaal. Ze kneep nog eens extra in het flesje en, je voelt het al aankomen, het kapje van het flesje vloog eraf: Een hele grote klodder groene glitterlijm op haar pagina! Je snapt dat we ons een breuk hebben gelachen, de tranen liepen over onze wangen!

En ik was zo blij dat ik mijn camera in de buurt had (ik had net foto's overgezet naar de PC) en ben gewoon foto's gaan nemen. Je snapt zeker wel waar mijn volgende layout over gaat???????

Trouwens: Marjan heeft de glitter van haar pagina afgeveegd en het zag er geweldig mooi uit!

Een beetje uitleg: De tafel waar wij aan zitten te scrappen was helemaal leeg toen we begonnen, er lag echt NIETS op! (de tafel is 200x100cm) Wij scrappers kunnen er echt een vreselijke puinhoop van maken.

Joram has been having his steady group of friends over the years. Merel is and has always been his favorite, I think that place is takes for the rest of his life (well, until he's 10, LOL) One of his other good friends is Nienke. Nienkes mom Diana had her birthday last Sunday and instead of giving a party she dicided they were going to take the kids out for the day and both their kids were allowed to invite a friend. So last Sunday at 10 Joram was picked up and they spent the day at Mondo Verde. I must admit, I had never heard of it, but Joram had a great time. Too bad the weather was not really too good and they even had hail during the day. I did not want to let Joram go empty handed so I arranged some pics of her two kids and made a scrapbook on the wall for her. I matched their new couch with the colors I picked and I must admit: I was very happy with the result. And thank goodness: So was Diana!

Kreative Blogger Award

What a surprise I found this morning in my comments! I received the Kreativ Blogger Award! I received the award from Jacquelin. Jacquelin, Thanks! I got to know Jacquelin at the WeScrap community where we both participate in the Fresh Face Design Contest (we're halfway now and still in!) Jacquelin has a great blog to visit, she makes very nice LO's and she takes awesome photo's. Pay her blog a visit!

1. Elise, even though Elise does not have a creative blog, I do think she deserves an award: She has showed to be a very creative person and over the years that we've known eachother (our children have been best friends ever since they were 2 yo) we became good friends. Her blog is in Dutch.

Wat een verrassing toen ik vanmorgen bij mijn commentaren keek. Ik had een Kreative Blogger award gekregen! Ik heb the onderscheiding ontvangen van Jacquelin. Jacquelin, bedankt! Ik heb haar leren kennen bij WeScrap waar we beiden deelnemers zijn van de Fresh Face Designer Contest (we zijn halverwege en nog steeds niet weggestemd!) Jacquelin heeft ene hele leuke blog vol met scrapdingen en ze maakt prachtige foto's. De moeite waard om eens langs te wippen.

De onderscheiding kent een paar simpele regels:

Ik ben in de loop der tijd een aantal keer genoemd op haar blog en je kunt er zoveel ideeen vinden. Een echte must als je je eigen scrapkamer wilt inrichten.
4. Jacqui, Jacqui komt uit Zuid Afrika en heeft een leuke blog met creatieve dingen en belevenissen uit het dagelijks leven. Jacqui is ook een van de deelnbemers van de Fresh Face Designer Contest.
5. Anne Marie, Ik heb Anne Marie leren kennen atoen ik de online klass GotSketch 102 volgde. Zij is een geweldige ontwerper en zij is ook een van de oprichters van Inspired Blueprints, mijn favoriete schets site!

10 000 bezoekers! / 10 000 visitors!

Ik keek net op de bezoekersteller en zag dat ik 10 000 bezoekers heb gehad. Toch wel reden voor een feestje. En omdat ik niet jarig ben ga ik een cadeautje weggeven. En om het nog net een beetje spannender te maken heb ik het volgende bedacht. We maken er een uitdaging van! Dit is de uitdaging: Maak een layout over een nummer. Dat kan een verjaardag zijn, een huisnummer en zelfs een lievelingsnummer. Kortom gebruik je fantasie!

Laat een bericht achter met daarin een link naar je layout en ik zal op 10 december een winnaar bekend maken! Veel succes!

Een nachtje logeren / One night sleepover

Al maanden zeggen Joram en Merel (van Elise) dat ze een keer bij elkaar willen logeren. Nu hadden wij als ouders daar onze eigen gedachten bij, want onze kinderen zijn niet echt de grootste helden die er op deze aardbol rondlopen. Uiteindelijk kwamen we tot een echte datum. In de herfstvakantie mocht er bij elkaar gelogeerd worden. In eerste instantie zou Joram bij Merel gaan slapen maar uiteindelijk gaf hij aan dat hij dat toch wel heel eng vond. Wat er precies eng aan was kon hij niet zeggen, iedereen was daar lief en hij kende ook het huis, maar toch............ Merel was ineens heel stoer en zei: Dan kom ik wel bij Joram slapen! En zo gebeurde het. Merel kwam gisteren met haar knuffels en pyama bij ons en het leek wel of ze nog nooit iets anders gedaan had. Ze hebben ontzettend veel lol gehad, hebben heerlijk liggen giechelen en keten in bed en zijn rustig in slaap gevallen. Vanmorgen hebben ze tot elf uur in hun pyama lekker zitten knutselen. Een echte herfstvakantiedag!

For months Joram and Merel (Elise's middle one) are talking about a sleepover. We as parents had our own thought about it because our children are not really the biggest heroes on this globe. We finally came to a real date: In the fall break there's was going to be a sleepover. Initially Joram was going to sleep at Merels but when the date came closer he said he did not dare to. He could not really tell why, her parents were sweet, he knew the house but still............ Merel became a toughcookie and said: I'll sleep over at Jorams! And that happened! Merel came over yesterday with her stuffed animals and her PJ's and it seemed like she does it all the time. They had lots of fun, giggled and had a blast in bed and finally fell asleep very peacefully. This morning they did crafts in their PJ's until about 11. A real fall break day!

Schets #5 / Sketch #5

Op maandag en donderdag worden altijd nieuwe schetsen geplaatst op Got Sketch 102. Maandagmiddag en -avond was mijn inspiratie ver te zoeken, maar gisterenavond lukte het weer aardig. Hoewel ik allerlei setjes foto's in mijn handen heb gehad en even zoveel soorten papier. Maar goed, na al die strubbelingen zat ik uiteindelijk in mijn handen met foto's uit 2003! Foto's waarvan ik niet eens weet of ze digitaal zijn en ook niet in welke maand ze gemaakt zijn. Ik weet in ieder geval dat het een van de eerste keren is dat Merel (van Elise) bij ons was. Joram en Merel zaten toen op de Peuterspeelzaal en dat was het begin van een vriendschap. Als ik de foto's zie, zie ik ook ineens hoe groot ze geworden zijn. Achter de foto rechtonder zit tekst verborgen. Het hart over de foto is geborduurd.

On Mondays and Thursdays the sketches are posted on Got Sketch 102. Monday afternoon and evening my inspiration was far gone, but yesterday night it went quite well. Though tons of pictures went through my hands and even more patterned paper. But alas; after all that fighting I ended up with three pictures taken in 2003! Pictures that I am not even sure of if they are digital or not and also I am not sure in what month they were taken. What I do know that is was one of the very first times Merel (Elise's dear daughter) came over to play. Joram and Merel met at the playgroup and that's how their friendship started. When I take a look at those pictures I realize how fast they are growing up. Behind the bottom right picture journalling is hidden.
