In Gerwen was niets meer open en uiteindelijk zijn we in Nuenen bij de Italiaan terechtgekomen waar we een heerlijk ijsje hebben gegeten. De kinderen hadden het verdiend!
Sunday night I skate with a couple of mothers from school. Besides the fact that it is really good for our bodies, we also have a great time. We start our route in Gerwen and do the tour by the canal and finish again in Gerwen where we end our evening on a terrace with a nice cool drink. During one of our tours the idea came up to do a mother-child skate. And not to end out route with a drink but with an ice cream. A date was set (last night) and Joram could hardly wait. Everybody who has been looking outside lately knows that the weather wasn't really our best friend. So the chances were high on the whole thing being blown off. When the time was there a lot of moms were already on vacation and left the country so Joram and Nienke were the only two children left. But that was not bad at all and only the rain could spoil it. Diana and I agreed that if it would not rain after five pm that we would go and skate. We were lucky and we only had a few drops when we were in the car on our way to Gerwen. We got what we deserved because when we finished our tour it started to poor! Skating with the children was awesome, we did a tour that was about 6 kilometers long and the kids had a great time. On the first bit of the route Joram tripped over a brench and landed right on top of a huge slug. Eeeeeeek.......... when they say slug are slimey you have to believe it. Joram was covered with slime and we had to roll his sweater up to make sure we did not have to look at the flat crushed slug the whole time (which we were unable to get of his sweater, the thing was stuck!). At the end of our skating experience the slug turned out to be better than tacky glue because his sweater was stuck. Alas...... Joram had a good laugh about it, he landed softly and for all you know he would have fallen in the big pile of horse poo that was a couple of metres ahead.
In Gerwen nothing was open anymore so we went to the Italian ice cream parlor in Nuenen where we had the best ice cream. The children definetely deserved it!
