This past Wednesday Joram swam the School Swimming championships in 'De Tongelreep'. Joram's school came out with four teams. Unfortunenately one team did not make it due to illness. Joram was one of the enthusiastic swimmers in the relay race. There were so many great swimmers on all the teams that we did not have the highest expectations of this years results (which is not important anyway, as long as they have fun). All the kids swam soooooo good. In their series Joram's team had the best time and in the finals they finished second. He was so proud (and he had every reason to, cause competition was hard)
On Friday we went with quite some children from Joram's class to 'Het Vennenbos', an indoor swimming paradise. Joram and all the other kids had a blast. I love going to that pool. You can see exactly where your children are, it's safe and the staff is really strict on the rules. After swimming we had a bite to eat at the McDonalds and saw some features of this years GLOW. GLOW is an event where downtown Eindhoven turns into a forum of interventions, installations, performances and events based on the phenomena of artificial light. Some of them are pretty, some stunning and some controversial but always light. This years theme: Being public. I will show some pics at the end of this post. I did not bring my camera and shot some pics with my cell (which looked pretty good actually) but these pictures were taken from the GLOW website. De pictures are from the events we've actually seen.
Afgelopen woensdag vonden de Eindhovense Schoolzwemkampioenschappen weer plaats in De Tongelreep. 300 leerlingen van 23 basisscholen uit Eindhoven uit de groepen 3 tot en met 8 zwommen mee. Joram's school kwam uit met vier teams (een vijfde team was uitgevallen door ziekte). Joram was een van de enthousiaste zwemmers in de estafette. Er waren zoveel ontzettend goede zwemmers dat we niet zulk hele hoge verwachtingen hadden van de eindresultaten (wat helemaal niet belangrijk is, als ze maar plezier hebben). De kinderen hebben zo geweldig hun best gedaan. In hun series eindigde het team van Joram als eerste en in de finale uiteindelijk als tweede! Hij was zoooo trots, en dat mocht ook wel want het veld was zwaar. Op vrijdag zijn we met aardig wat kinderen bij Joram uit de klas naar het Vennenbos geweest, een tropisch zwemparadijs. Joram en alle andere kinderen hebben het heerlijk gehad
. Ik vind het een heerlijk zwembad om naar toe te gaan. Het is erg overzichtelijk, veilig en het personeel is erg strict met de regels. Na het zwemmen hebben we een hapje gegeten bij McDonalds en hebben nog wat onderdelen van GLOW gezien. GLOW is een evenement waarbij het centrum van Eindhoven omgetoverd wordt to een forum van interventies, installaties en optredens, allemaal gebaseerd op het fenomeen kunstmatig licht. Sommigen zijn mooi, anderen adembenemend, dan weer controversieel, maar het gaat altijd over licht. Het thema van dit jaar: Being public (Ja, in het engels...........)
Ik zal wat foto's aan het einde van dit bericht plaatsen. Ik had mijn camera niet bij me en heb een paar foto's gemaakt met mijn mobiel (die overigens best goed waren) maar deze foto's heb ik van de GLOW website gehaald.Overigens zijn dit de dingen die we gezien hebben.
